I am way late to the chip collecting game. I currently have a cash set of Majestic's and a cash set of Chips Casino Paulson's. I use the Majestic's for tourneys and the chips for cash games. I really love the Terrible's and i have just noticed that I rarely see them for sale now. Would i be crazy to try to build a usable cash set out of them? Also I would be piecing them together as cash allowed. Is that how you guys do it.

Not crazy at all. Very doable. Terrible's pop up for sale very often.

And yes, barrel by barrel, rack by rack, is how I built my set.

Do it, enjoy the process, be patient, watch the classifieds closely, and good luck!

What set did you build.

You would be crazy not to try. I got to the PCA game too late, but next chance you get, take a look at my set. Same with the Empress chips. These sets took me YEARS to build. GL, and have fun with it!

Not crazy at all. My Tropicana set started as a 400 chip non playable set. It is now over 1,000 chips and is very playable! Go for it. The fun in the hobby is the hunt! Once you get it where you want it then you either decide you need it to be a bigger set or you move on to another project but always have an eye out for more chips for your sets!

Since you have a set there isn't a rush to build a new set. The chips are a lot more common and affordable than a lot of other sets so you shouldn't have too much problem finding them.

Take as long as you need to build the set, it is a lot of the fun.

No, that might be the best way to do it! A lot of people with "looking for" in their signatures are currently doing it.

It might take years, but it will just make your set all the more special, and you'll make relationships throughout the community. And if you change your mind, that's OK - you can trade/sell the chips you have for others along the way. You don't have to be dead set on the "right" set to start collecting... more than one person has picked up some of these and some of those before deciding to focus on a third thing. You usually get your money back reselling what you've collected to others who want it. The biggest regrets people have aren't the things they bought... it's the things they didn't, back when the price was lower....

Not a Terrible's set, but a mixed set, only took about 6 months to get it playable and another 6 months of fine tuning.

Yeah i don't have quite that much money at the moment.
You should find it. Beg, borrow, sell some old skis. That's a really really good price for those chips. It's surprising that they're sitting out there at that price. Those ones alone should sell for $375 at a minimum, and probably more like $450 or more.
