Do you have a link to the website? My guess is that they're inexpensive Chinese ceramics, so you never can be sure what you'll get in terms of quality, texture, spinners, etc. I think you'd be happier in the long run with customs or semi-customs from @ABC Gifts and Awards/ @BR Pro Poker.

I would highly recommend purchasing a sample set if you have not seen these in person, or if you haven't seen them in a while since you mentioned looking at them for years. We acquired BR Pro a few years back, and re-released this set using new printers earlier this year. The colors are MUCH more vivid & bright, and printing is a lot more crisp than it was with the previous manufacturer! :)

The photos are of the new/updated printing but nothing can really compare to having samples in-hand. And then if you do buy a set, you'll have an extra of each denom in case you lose any! :)

The last time I looked at buying chips the Samuari palace chips were available. It's been awhile... poker has become a faded hobby. When you have a scheduled game once a month and 3 of 7 have to go get there daughter a bathing suit, take wife to c grocery store or just forgot it's a failing hobby... serious players put that date on the calender. When I put things in my head. Wife's birthday check, anniversary check, daughters birthday chevk, poker game Friday nigh check. The first three may be fuzzy but the poker game clearly checked..

If somebody else has another chip interesting enough to start a purchase I'm all ears.

I don’t think poker is any different, but what has changed is you and your friends’ lifestyle. :ROFLMAO:
Seriously, the ceramics at BRPro are great. Get samples. Regarding cost, you don’t need to buy all of them right now...you can add on as you go.

Truth.

Roughly 14 years ago, our poker group died off. It was the poker boom, but we simply couldn't get enough people to play. Mrs Zombie and I are kid free, and we watched as player after player got pregnant and lost their interest in poker - or anything that didn't revolve around their child.

Now our current group is going strong. Sure, there's a COVID hit right now, but our players are older and their kids are at that age where they're "too cool" to be seen with their parents.

Poker isn't going to be the same as it was in the boom years, but it is still a popular, social game.

I hope the person who originally designed these would chime in. There was an interesting story about the artwork and getting permission from the artist.

Broke down and ordered the Zombie sample pack.

I'll probably contact someone on making the good, bad and ugly chips...

Got em, trying em, trying to decide if I like em.....

Anybody with a link on different grades of chips?

Dice chips have metal inserts. How to they grade from worst to best.. where do the zombie chips rank versus others...

I'm not impressed with the sound .sound cheap

Rather than using "rare" as a grade.

I see where home poker games has a grading system....thx

At that point, it's eye of the beholder, or feel of the beholder.

My personal opinion and reasoning, from worst to best. Since you are a table guy, I will put in table comparisons.
  1. Nexgens: Just too slippery. Bump the stack, and there they go. Try to count chips while your hands shake from adrenaline - it's a nightmare. Give me nexgens and I'm eventually going to just play from a random-ass uncountable pile of chips. Equal to playing on a plastic folding table from Walmart.
  2. Dice Chips: Just too common. Ignoring the counterfeit chip possibility, I want my game to stand out. They are also excessively heavy, which adds up if you have a thousand chips to carry. They are usually non-denominated, which results in "How much are these" questions, which automatically makes the playing field unfair for a new player that may be giving a tell by having to basically ask "How much do I have behind". Table comparison: a fold-out table topper - the kind that the felt starts to pill or fray after the 3rd or 4th use.
  3. Ceramic hybrids - Ceramics with a label. Better image on the label, but the edge pattern looks very different, like watching a tv that has one section that is not in HD. They also tend to be more slippery than regular ceramics. Table comparison: A kitchen table with a roll-up topper.
  4. Ceramics (Zombie Poker Tour included): Not a fan, but usable (I do use them). I just think the imagery is blurry. The quality has improved over the years, but it is not (and probably will never be) as good as a label. If chips were tables, these chips would be a $250 folding poker table
  5. China Clay: many will put these below ceramics, and I'm ok with that. They stay stacked better, and are super cheap. In table speak, they're like the $250 folding poker table that you found for $150. It's about as good, but cheaper.
  6. RT Plastics or Matsui: very nice chips. If price was no object, this is as cheap as I would go. They are a little too slippery for some, and I wouldn't recommend playing limit on these, but for regular 40-80 chips in your stack poker these work just fine, like a basic non-folding poker table.
  7. CPCs: Very good on every front. They are a quality made, $1000 poker table.
  8. Paulsons, Bud Jones, or BnG: The very best. Some would put the BJ or BnG lower than Paulson, but to me they are equally enjoyable. They reflect quality. When "good enough" isn't your goal you need to find greatness. The feel and/or stackability of these chips is great, if not over the top. The colors are impeccable. Do you need them? Do you need a raised, lighted rail and mahogany wood crafted legs? The answer to both these questions is the same.

The zombie chips seems like the picture isnt digital...not a sharp print..

Tables compared to chips? That wouldnt be a good anology..

You are correct...the Zombie artwork is not vector artwork like the Tiki, Muertos, Skulls, etc., and thus not as sharp in resolution as the others. I don't know the origin story of these, it's a set that the former BR Pro owner had when we acquired the business.

The colors from the camera shot are great , but In person they are dull looking.

I'm unsure if they all are like this or just the latest ones..

The chips in the photos on our website, as well as the chips you received, as well as the chip in this photo were all made at the same time. Sounds like these aren't the chips for you. I'm sure there's another set out there that will be just what you're looking for!

Considering the zombies are .75 each. Any recommendations high or low?

Zombie's aren't completely out. Just on standby

Make sure you take a look at the full pricing list here since it's based on quantity - you would only pay 75 cents each if you order below 100 total (combined for all denominations). Minimum 25 per denom required, but pricing for all chips is based on the TOTAL quantity of chips that you order. :)
