I agree that it seems odd at first glance, but I do "get it" -- people simply want chips (or copies of chips) that they like and think are cool/pretty/whatever. And if a $5-to-$15 per chip NAGB design falls into your desired design wheelhouse, then getting a 50c/chip Tina clone makes a great deal of sense, especially if the originals are hard to come by. Economy and availability are two very powerful marketplace draws. Ask Henry Ford.
Personally, I'd prefer making a Tina set that's either a unique design, or a copy (or tribute) of something that's not otherwise realistically available, or a combination of chip design/colors I really like from different sets but with unique label-area artwork.
Coincidence? No. But I doubt that Caesars would have ever noticed or cared about the similarity had they not been informed by a white knight do-gooder with an agenda.
It wasn't my call, but if I had been the person- in-charge at Caesars, I would not have swapped sets. And I think it's ridiculous that they were spooked by a 'internet reporter' into thinking that their set was suddenly "compromised". It was not.
Point of information requested, since I was not a member when most of the GPI group buys occurred:
My outsider’s impression is that chips like the BTPs, SBs and RPCs (less so the extensive AS/ES sets whose inlays seemed more serious) were created with the expectation that many would wind up having their inlays replaced... Not all, but many.
In other words, that the inlay designs were necessary placeholders to maintain the pretense of a casino or cruise ship order. But that the artwork was for some buyers a necessity more than a feature. Just to do what was needed to fill the void in custom chips after they stopped selling to the public.
I understand that plenty of people now value that artwork either for itself or as an artifact of the process of getting these orders through. Also that “murder” and milling and new hotstamps weren’t quite as big a thing even 5 years ago compared to now.
By contrast, my sense is that the recent Tiger inlays are keepers for most buyers.
Just curious if that an of inlay replacement was part of the original plan for some of these chips. If so that’s part of why I find the Tina copies head-scratching.

Yuck!! When "companies" start trying to turn a profit off this garbage... millions of other mold opportunities and wow... how original and amazing...
Personally if someone would make a "D**k n B**ls" mold you could count me in for a set of these

But no... first let's rip off GPI with the same boring mold so they get pissed and stop selling anything but house molds, then let's have after market "companies" push that "poop" to make a couple $$$.

Now that you mention it, a hot dog & bun (HDB) mold would sell out instantly here.

I dunno about that. It did almost die. We went 7 months in between post 1558 and 1559.
