I’m headed to San Diego next month for my 40th and thinking of hitting up a Casino or Poker Room. How’s Seven Mile? Are there any other rooms with 1-2 games going?

Sycuan isn’t far at least where I was in SD it was the closest. But download the Bravo app and you’ll know what’s best.

Jamul is ok and seven mile is always packed, sycuan is probably the best bet.

Or you can stop by my place lol.

your choices are,

oceans 11
jamul
sycuan
seven mile

they all have smaller no limit games. seven mile is usually busy.

Seven Mile will be the closest drive and usually has a lot of action and is busy. Every time I go there they have several 1/3 NL games going and usually some 2/5 NL and 5/5 PLO. It’s not a big place, but it’s got plenty of tables and is always clean and professionally run.

The Indian casinos are a bit more of a drive. Sycuan has the much better poker room than Jamul and both are full blown casinos while Seven Mile is just a card room, so if you want to do to do other gambling and dining they have options.

Finally there is Oceans 11 which is in Oceanside, which is north of San Diego and is a card room. I haven’t played there.

I’d recommend Seven Mile because it’s close, but Sycuan and Oceans 11 are both decent options that will require more of a drive but will let you see more of the area if you’ve never been here.

I got two guys I play with regularly and two that show occasionally. we would have five to seven if you two show. I got a setup for ten just PM if interested we could make it happen Friday.

Sure. I'd play, as long as I'm free that night. I know @cpiaaq is in town too.

What games/buy ins do you usually play?

Seven Mile in Chula Vista is your best bet. It’s a short drive from downtown. Pretty loose action and it’s usually busy with all 10 tables in action

I've been to SD before, but any big recommendations from locals?

Last time I was there I explored gaslamp quarter, went to PetCo for a Padres game, did a Tequila tasting somewhere, sunset cliffs, coronado beach, and la jolla. Went to Ballast Point, Coronado brew pub.

Stayed in an Air BNB in north park this time staying in Air BNB in Mission Beach

Any must do's - food, brewery, nearby hikes?

As for hiking, "tallest" peak in SD County is cowels mtn. Nice and short, about 3 miles loop, with great views. Most popular in the area.

Another great place to hike is Torrey pines state beach. Short, but killer views.

Seems like you got to it all last trip. But some more tourist stuff is the SD zoo. Balboa park, and old Town.

A big/popular brewery down here is stone.

Totally forgot to follow up on this. We ended up playing a little tournament at the poolside bar at our hotel. 5 players… I won. Happy Birthday to me.

Sounds like the SD crowd approves of Oceans11. I’m in Carlsbad/Oceanside a few times a year. Guess I’ll have to give it a go one of these days. Staying in Oceanside this weekend n

Refreshing this post for 2024. Headed to SD in Feb. for a conference. Staying on Coronado Island.

Are all the recommendations still applicable?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Yea I feel like that it is dependent on where you are staying. I think Seven Mile is super close to you (15 minute drive). Jamul is 35min and Sycuan is 40min. Oceans11 is 45min away.

Seven mile will be the closest card room. Further out there is jamul and sycuan. Those are both on bravo. Seven Mile can have long lists. So call ahead.
