Starting this thread to document the creation of this poker set (goal to complete over the next few weeks) and get feedback as I progress.

Vision: I want to have a chip set that covers my normal cash games, but is fairly personal. Each denomination I want to cover a different house/cottage I grew up in or owned. 43mm target chips.

Denomination thoughts (edit: revised order):
100: Earliest home (lived with mom in grandparents home)
25: Childhood cabin on Dad's side
5: First home with mom/step-dad
1: First home owned
25c: Current home
5c

LATEST Notes (thread-catch up) - 4/26 Edit: Think I'm locked in. Thanks all! Placing order to get these moving. Fun week project!

Love it! Feel free to drop other chips here that you like/inpsire you as well. Whats your budget, and what stakes do you host?

No direct inspiration, will just see where these go! Likely will do something similar in inlay design to the Windmill chips I made but ended up shelving.. but will see where it takes me.

Budget/Hosting: Planning on Tina buy likely. Usually just friendly cash games at $20 or $50 buy-ins. Have 4 other sets already, but think this would be a fun rotation for home games vs my travel games.

Got some photos, will start making 2d artistic renders later:

Cool idea and I have enjoyed your designs I have seen thus far, so i'm sure this one will turn out great! Good luck

Playing with a few art styles, like the hand-drawn style so far (did a rough trace of the photos, and light amt of underpainting).

Edit: Quick Inlay test... eh.. need to toy around more (layout, sizing, fonts, etc), but art may work.

I would center the building and put the text around it wherever it fits.
Yeah, personal chip preference is image above text so far in messing with layouts, but will keep toying around.. haven't locked in a layout I like enough yet. Below is second run... closer but still not there.

Edit.. v3.. kind of digging this inlay.

I like this. The thought being that the memories are more valuable.
I'm coming around to this... I think I may just kill the 5c chip (go straight to 25c) which lets me get more playtime on some of the chips as well and make the table more recognized for people other than me as well.

So... would go from most recent to deeper memories..
25c: Current Home
1: First Home
5: Childhood Home (Mom Side)
25: Childhood Cabin (Dad Side/Grand Parents)
100: Earliest Home as a Kid with Mom/Grand Parents

Starting to toy around with chip designs. Thinking:
25c: Light Blue
1: grey/black/white
5: Red/?
25: Green/lt blue/Purple
100: Black/Multi

Tests..

Edit: Changed around a bit. Really like the clean 25c... but may wipe the rest and go a different direction.

I really like the CRATTY text slightly cutting into the house graphic. It’s the little things…!!!

Thinking about revisiting the 5c chip...

Haven't thought of a better idea than just doing a Taco Bell, and making the edgespot design look like tacos though. So will need to keep thinking on that one.

Edit: Maybe drinks of some kind.. represent community or something.

I like your idea. It's a really nice, personal memento type design. Maybe I should do this with cars I've owned? Then again, maybe not. Nothing too remarkable in that lineup :wtf:

Just commenting to see if others have a better way to design chips/edge spots (Tina production intent)... I've opted to make mine in photoshop (yes I know not vector, but I use 1000 pixels/inch to get a fine printing resolution (error of ~.02mm), and CMYK 16bit. That said.. here's what my process has been.. this feel right?

1. Make a blank circle at 43mm (or 39mm) and overlay mold and inlay for reference points, example:

2. Add a angle measurement reference overlay to the chip:

3. Draw on edge-spots on same intervals and align edges to angle measurements:
1714136814642.png

4. Save without guidelines and inlay design (just base chip/edge spots) and place .psd in illustrator to covert to ai file type

5. Create edge canvas .psd at 3.3mm x 135.09mm (43mm*pi)
1714137053595.png

6. Make a guidance file to convert angles/location of each chip edge spot on the face to side measurements:

7. Enable the ruler view in mm, and place each edge spot location, then blur the middle portions to get the manufactured/imperfect feel (other methods, but what I chose for this design).

8. Save and place in illustrator similarly to convert to ai file type..

Does anyone see a better method or see any issues?

Also, think I'm going to just lock these in and place the order at this point. My wife isn't too happy that I've spent most of my free time over the past week obsessing over making these, ha. I may revisit a 5c chip at a later time, but just need to move forward for now.

Thanks all!
