If I may ask a (potentially blasphemous) question:
I could understand why, on the Blue Wall, there were options to design BCC and TRK chips -- customs were available from those manufacturers.
However, these days, it seems like it's CPC or ceramics... why the design capabilities for the defunct companies? Unless it's a legacy project (this is what used to be available) or something to encourage creativity on ceramics that mimic clay edgespots, it seems like it's a horrible reminder to those of us who never took advantage of the ability to get custom sets way back when.
(Full disclosure: I ordered a set of ASMs in the CT days, so I wasn't completely shut out.)
