I’ve had a couple people reach out to me, so I suppose it’s time for a…

ONE MONTH UPDATE!

Doing really well. I’ve had just a couple really rough days with pain and/or mood, but for the most part I’ve felt like I’m improving, and it’s been really easy to stay encouraged.

Getting around well at home. Able to get myself a sandwich, reheat leftovers, or do some easy cooking, like eggs, or a grilled sandwich. Still need my wife to do some things for me, but I’m becoming more independent every day.

PT is challenging, but really making a difference. Finally feel like my legs are starting to cooperate. Yesterday, I was able to take my first steps without putting any weight on my walker. Just and handful of small, slow, awkward steps, but it made me feel like I’m really going to make it to the other side of this.
Keep on keeping on. It'll keep getting easier and easier.

Just reading this thread now. This happens to be kind of what I do professionally. It’s only a 4 level fusion and I don’t see any corpectomy cage. So probably just a decompression fusion. Hey maybe it was an intradural lesion (typically a schwanoma at thoracic level). That has excellent prognosis versus some spinal met (usually to vertebral body). The 8 hour duration you describe makes me think this was more likely an intradural lesion. Wish you the best in your recovery.
Why would there be a shawarma in his spine? I love those too but not enough to just implant it in my body for later.

Got a chance to play live. First time since the surgery. Feels nice to do something normal.

Let’s go!!!

(Sorry Andy but I just can't help myself)

What changed in the world that made you having a stack of chips in front of you normal? I mean, half a stack, maybe. Quarter of a stack, definitely. But not a whole stack. Did you just buy in?

I'm glad to hear the surgery went well and that you are home after recovery! UIHC has a great reputation with a wonderful people who work there. It's great that you have an acute inpatient rehab so close to home too. There aren't very many in Iowa. Wishing you a continued speedy recovery!

I would have waited for better chips....... ;)
But glad to hear you're doing better!!!!! :cool
The Crown Casino are actually pretty nice. They handle and stack nicely. No more slippery than the Matsuis I’ve handled. Too bad they don’t make a quarter for that set, because the Poker Knights suck.

Finally stopped taking the oxy tabs. I was only taking one or two 5mg tabs a day, but I needed/wanted to be off it to drive, or enjoy an adult beverage.

Templeton 10 Year last night.

2 month update!

Had my follow up appointment with Dr. Yamaguchi on Tuesday, with accompanying MRI and X-ray. Everything looks great. The spinal cord still shows some indentation from the tumor, so, some things are still going to take some time to get back to normal.

I've had my best stretch of days this week. I set my cane down somewhere in the house today, and I don't know where it is. Seems like I'm getting there.

So when do we empty Chris's wallet again?
