Covered by "stud games" so that's the vote cast, but specifically "Red ass". Played with a split pot and pot-matching aspect.

High heart in the hole splits the pot with high hand // a player may fold rather than take a 7th card // players who take a 7th card but do not win must replace the pot (one losing player = whole pot, 2 losers = ½ pot each, etc...)

PLO8. 4 card version highly preferred over BigO (5 card). 6 max.

We usually play BigO though since we are usually playing PLO as well in a mixed game and it makes it easier for the players to remember what game we are in by how many cards they have in their hand.

Has anyone herd of a older game called "Twister" we used to play it when we were young but it can get insane! I have herd it is similar to an old military game called "guts" Similar to 7 stud except all (7) cards are face down, and only 3 series of betting. Usually played with a wild but not necessary...

everyone antes and then dealt (3) cards... using a quarter heads up means your in... tails you're out, put your hand over your quarter and announce show! if your out (tails) you owe an extra ante to add to the pot, before the next cards are dealt... but still in the hand! if you are in (heads up) you pass your cards to the others that are in.(typlically out players cover their eyes or put their head down.) Best hand wins the amount in the pot if 3 or more are in they match the pot... and add it to the pot (extra ante from out players are added now). Then everyone re antes (2) more cards dealt and again (now 5 card hand) again quarters (heads or tails) same action as before and then the final (2) are dealt... (7 card hand now, only 5 play) if 2 or more are still heads up... game is not over all still paying antes are still in and live until only 1 person has their quarter heads up... you may also fold anytime you like but no one ever does because of the chance for new cards in the next round... have seen pots of $700 to $1000 in this game with $1 antes!!

Hope that makes sense... haven't played in years!! Definitely favorite game of all time! If there is another name for it... I'd love to know! Fellow chipper Ben

NL Hold'em is King.

I have been curious to try out some of the new "short deck" Hold'em.

They have some high stakes games on Triton's YouTube channel. It's the same overall except you remove all the 2-5's in the deck. Makes almost every hand playable, and changes a lot of odds, etc. Could be fun.

NL or even PL TX Hold'em hasn't been named "the Cadillac of Poker" abitrarily. It has most of the charms and none of the evils of most other variants.
I have some nostalgic emotions about stud games, but it's not clear to me which betting structure is ideal for them.
For the sake of variety, I 'm very much interested in intermediate variatons between TX Hold'em and Omaha (like Crazy Pineapple, Cuckoo Bird Hold'em aka Crazy Pineapple with the two remaining hole cards mandatory, or even 3-hole card Omaha).
Omaha is plain dangerous and I say so just after having read a book about it, which convinced me I shouldn't be playing it:D

GUTS....I guess there must be a hundred games called that. What I grew up calling GUTS:

-Everybody antes up, you get 3 cards. Look and decide.
-Hold them out in front, dealer counts 1...2..3 GUTS!
-All players either drop or hold their cards. Players left holding are in play.
-Highest 3 card hand wins the pot, all losing live cards MATCH POT. No straights, no flushes.
-Everybody re-antes and run it again. Play continues like this until only 1 person is left holding cards and steal the pot.
***This game is NOT table stakes....if you owe pot, you dig into your wallet and MATCH POT. Thus....GUTS.

I hate this game.

However, I love 7 stud. That's where my vote went. I also love Limit O8

This is kinda like a game we played called 357. Played like guts, in or out type game. First 3 cards dealt 3s are wild best 3 card poker hand. then 2 more cards are dealt and 5s are wild. And then 7s for the last showdown. Each round if you announce in and lose you pay what's in pot. If you are the only person to stay (guts) you get a "leg" marked out front with a penny. If you get 3 legs you win the huge pot. We were using quarters not dollars. It would usually go $50 or so nothing I can remember more than that. It was fun though!
