I know this is discussed every week, and I have read thru the older posts. I figured, what’s one more post gonna hurt?

Looking for opinions on my breakdown in the attached image. Given is that I wouldn’t plan to plan with more than 8 people, and the game is NLH.

Thanks!

This looks good too. Mine is 600 chips vs yours is 700 chips. Obviously 700 would be preferred, why wouldn’t it? More chips the better.

Most of my one table sets are built with only 200 x $5.00 chips. 300 are better. Depends on what your workhorse chips are, and what the budget is. If the budget fits 300 fives, that is what I would do.

So you really don't need 160 fracs, the range would be 60 to 120.

60 is the least amount of fracs you should put in but you could likely do it with 40, though I think that would be too much change making, personally I use 60.

The 120 would be so that 10 people could get 3 USD in quarters for a starting stack.

Detroitdad's break down would likely carry any game you spread up to 1/2.

something I learned too late that bothered me was having less than whole racks of a denomination. With the exception of higher denom rack of 80 x $25 & 20 x $100 which I can get away with, because it's the rack on the top.

Wow, look like u added a PCA primary set to your collection as well. Welcome to the PCA train

Thanks for all your guidance. I was playing around with my spreadsheet and it seems like if I don’t force 160 fracs (which would be 20 for a starting stack which I liked) I can drop it down to 100 and make room for more bank in case the game grows.

I’m in the camp of MOAR fracs. The most at my game is 8 people, usually 6 though and never had an issue. We buy in for $60 to start. You can rebuy up to $60 if you’re under $5 on the table. I’ll just color some big stacks up a little with $20s and $100s to get those rebuys in.

My main set is 620 chips. It all comes down to personal preference and also how you and your players like to play.

260 - 25¢
220 - $1
80 - $5
40 - $20
20 - $100
Bank of $3,485
Starting stacks are
$8 - 25¢
$22 - $1
$30 - $5
$60 each, so $480 to start total with 8 people.

This leaves some extra $1s and $5s and $20s and $100s for colorups.
$40 - $1
$160 - $5
$800 - $20
$2000 - $100

Thanks for sharing, and you have a beautiful setup.

With 8 people, I originally was thinking 160 fracs so I could give each player a stack of 25c’s to start. A nice clean look. With 160x200x180x50x10 you have starting stacks of 20/20/5, very nice.

If I go 100 fracs, yes increase my bank in case my game grows, sacrifice is the starting stacks. With 100x200x200x80x20 I could go 12/12/7. Still works, it’s less chips and more counting to setup.

Fracs are dependent on how much limping you expect. Will your game be filled with recreational players that are there to socialize (more fracs) or serious players/gamblers that will be raising pre flop (less fracs)?

That being said, I like MoAR chip and sacrificed some higher denoms for more fracs as l'm not comfortable with higher stakes:

Yup it really is down to preference hey? I've been at both ends with 200 fracs down to 100. My game was super recreational. Constant limping and you know those players who don't want to risk their big chips so they count out all their bets in fracs? Like a barrel of fracs for a $5 call?
That's all great for shits and giggles and to fun to have more chips in your stack.

Slowly everyone got a little bit better (it took one or two slightly better players to lift the game) - suddenly a lot less limping was allowed by aggressive preflop raises. Then some players would try to intimidate by betting with bigger chips only. People would start to fold trash hands. We're still predominantly fishy and very recreational. But I can see everyone slowly learning which is lots of fun.

Keep it simple for our home game

100 white quarters
200 blue dollars
50 red fives
50 greens, we plays greens as $20 because none of us carry many 25 dollar bills

Works for us and our play style

50/1 blinds
