$1/2 NLHE: Flopping an Ace OOP with ATs (1 Viewer)

I thought this was basically the easiest fold in history and I did so I don't know what he had exactly but conversation came up without my involvement as to whether he had a boat and people actually argued that he might not. He basically never has less than a boat here right? I just can't conceive of a player at $1/2 floating twice with nothing and then making a big move. The bet size is just icing on the cake to cement that he has a boat.

At least that's how I read it. Any disagreement?

No disagreement here, I don't expect very many 1/2 players to be making some fancy play here, this is just a milk-the-cow bet from Villian

Occasional Parx player here....

Here's my thought process if I were playing the Villain's hand blind

  • Hero calls $8 bet pre-flop, representing a decent drawing hand or a low/middle pair, but not a premium hand or else he would have popped it to isolate the raiser, especially when out of position
  • Very wet board on the flop. With the $12 dark bet, I would have probably had you on KTs at this point
  • After turn, I would have taken the $25 as a feeler bet, thinking I could probably buy it, popping it on a bluff, smooth calling if turning a boat
  • On the river, I would have shifted my thought to put you on a weaker ace, probably a little weaker than your actual hand

Here's my thought process if I were playing the Villain's hand like 75% of the Parx $1/$2 players

  • "Ohhh, these cards are pretty. Let's bet low it to see if I can get more money. The odds are better when more people are in the hand, right?"
  • "Stop smiling and talking or else they'll think you have something....Can't...Stop...Talking".
  • "This guy bet in the dark, therefore it is my social commitment to make a play"
  • "What is floating?"
  • "Please bet the river, please bet the river. Yay!!!

Of course I say this facetiously because I'm from Philly and some of my closest friends are successful $1/$2 players at Parx, but you made the right move. In a $1/$2 game at Parx, or most places for that matter, players generally aren't savvy enough to float the flop and turn and raise the river. Making hero calls is exciting, but unless you know the Villain well (in this case you did not), it's very seldom worth the risk. I would have check/called the turn and check/folded the river because the boat would have crushed you.

No disagreement from me. Nice fold!

Why does that sound like me..........
