BIN for $170.

I am thinking about trying to put together a small Paulson Classic cash set.

Are these worth $1.70 per chip? I missed out on a bunch of $1's in our classifieds recently, wasn't fast enough.

What do the experts think? I'm thinking about snagging these, but don't want to get ripped off.

It's not a bad price, but keep in mind the description suggests they are used and broken in. As long as you're ok with that, I say go for it. But just don't expect them to be mint (and potentially they might be a little more used than other ones you acquire to complete the set).

Jersey, keep in mind Paulson has quit making these...it's insane how fast demand began to outpace supply and force $3+/chip on eBay and the likes. This forum has been an excellent source of supply, as alot of folks try different sets. I recently started piecing together a set of classics and it was the outrageous pricing from folks on eBay (who shall not be named) that drove me to PCF. These guys will look out for your best interest, and the majority aren't interested in making a buck, but rather fulfilling each others needs with trades, etc. That being said, I just snagged a set of 500 from Apache and I may have some extras. Once these come in, I can PM you and let you know what I have in excess of what I need for a set if you are interested.

As long as they're in decent shape, it's a pretty good price really. I don't think you'll ever find them cheaper actually.

Ok thanks. Keep me in mind.

That is ok I think. I don't mind if they are a little used. I am going to put the set together to hit the felt so I expect they will wear over time. I just want a decent Paulson set for home games. I think I'm just going to pull the trigger.

Oh well slept on this listing way too long. They sold. Congrats whoever scooped them!

I didn't think they were worth a buck when they were selling for $1.25..... used chips then were selling (barely, sometimes) for 55c-65c each. I still don't think they're worth more than a dollar. And not that, to me.

For the current eBay market it's probably a good price, assuming the chips still have a lot of life in them. Anything over $1.50 for a Paulson mold home chip is high to me, though. Once you cross the $1.50 line you can put together a set of CPC's with your choice of colors, custom inlays, some spot progression, and a wide variety of molds. You also start getting into casino sets at that point (and if you consider used casino sets, you can get $5 chips well below $1.50 per chip).

So, $1.70 - $3.00 per chip for fixed colors, no progression, and a bleh mold? Or a bangin' custom chip set of your choosing? You make the call.

Or, if you just need to have something now, there's always the Key West line at $1.35/chip for forum members.

That's why I sold my WTH&C chips...simply couldn't justify holding on to them when they could fund a set of customs.

I agree with @Psypher1000 for the most part. Ask yourself this question... "Am I planning on keeping these chips forever?" If so, CPC or some other custom set is probably the way to go. Otherwise, I'd consider something like the Paulson Classics that you know will sell quickly at this price point, if ever necessary.
