My thoughts & decision after analyzing 11 popular sample sets (2 Viewers)

For newbies, one consideration with CPC chips….and this may not impact many…but consider cleaning. I bought my CPC (ASM) set from 2002-2004 and they were heavily used (for home chip standards ) up until about 2007-8 then only a couple times a year. While you won’t get the collection of sputz you see with casino chips..they will get tacky and …from what I understand, can’t be cleaned with an ultrasonic or as aggressively as say a Paulson. Simply wiping them off with soap and water or a damp cloth doesn’t do much IMO.

A few years ago I went with BRPRO ceramics for a new 1200 chip set mainly because of ease of cleaning…but also because the artwork options and option for 43mm sizes. Clay chips are definitely cooler (and way more expensive) but maintenance for them in a high use situation should be considered.

I HIGHLY recommend you don’t allow people to eat at the table and any snacks should be of the non greasy variety…like pretzels!

I'm pretty sure you can ultrasonic CPC chips, but the most popular cleaner (TSP substitute) will eat them up, you need a different detergent. Not sure what the best option is, but I'd bet CPCs can handle some light dish soap.

Great write up and thought process, and great discussion. Thx! I got my chip set of Tina ceramic no mold cash set (from @justincarothers) a year ago, and have been very happy with them, playing about bi-monthly. They have spinners in them, but I don't mind that much and I like the colors and feel. Players are happy with them. I dream of getting CPC chips someday, but like you @BobbyVegas said, I can't justify the $$ cost currently. Please leave a post about what you get when it arrives.

Will do. Should be about 3-4 weeks now

You said you wanted real casino feel and quality, and you are on the one forum where you can find actual casino clay paulsons… I wouldn’t spend a dime until you get a sample of RHC and THC.

You said you like the finer things in life… I don’t really see any other option for you other than to get some paulsons.

You talked about “diminishing returns”, if you are this far along in your chipping quest, A Chinese set, or any non-custom ceramics might be throwing hood money to bad… it’s just my opinion, but I’m glad I skipped this step (after sampling) and just found some lower priced paulsons.

If you are here, and you made a thread like that…I am sorry to be the guy to tell you… but you are most likely going to graduate to paulsons… so if that’s even a remote possibility, the financially prudent thing to do would be just get To it :)

An entry level used RHC Paulson set that actually was played at a casino can be had for less than new CPC, if you study the market and get a good price on them, they resell easy and/or can be added onto later…
There’s actually a lot of the lower end used Paulson sets floating around… if you figured out a budget and asked around, you would most likely get some responses.

I like solids, in the past few weeks I bought about 800 leaded Paulson hotstamped THCs solids to make a set at less than $1 a chip…

It’s a wormhole, it starts with China clays and it ends with Cocaine giraffes.

Here’s an example of playable sets that sold around here recently, on the lower end of the spectrum.

Good luck brother!

Just to add that all 3,600 CPC chips that I have ordered (4 different sets) have their inlays or hot stamps perfectly aligned to the edge spots exactly as I desired. Not the case even with Paulsons.
Their durability is superior to anything.
And, personal tastes aside, their feel is excellent; only old leaded THC Paulsons are superior beyond discussion, in feel and sound.
Seeking for truly fine quality, I 've found CPCs to be great value for money, in relation to vintage casino Paulsons or Paulson NAGB chips.

I off course also own two Paulson sets and a Tina set.
The latter solely because the beautiful Greek Mold hasn't been available in clay for many years. Nice and honest product, like a Toyota, but I thought the OP was looking for Porsches (with leaded THC Paulsons being vintage Ferraris)
