1000 Chip Case (3 Viewers)

I've been carrying a set of 920 Chipcos + 80ish old-school ceramics from my car, upstairs into my local club, and back to my car once a week since the spring. My birdcage only has two screws on the bottom, and I'm using standard racks, i.e., 20-chip barrels of Chipcos sit one chip loose and shake around a whole lot.

I've never had a concern. It feels quite sturdy despite the chips shifting around. I haven't noticed any looseness or other issues in the case itself.

That said, I don't really need 1,000 chips for the game and will probably pick up a 600-chip carrier and some Chipco racks, eventually. But no actual problems with the birdcage.
birdcage = 1000 chip Versa with 6 latches right? right now i'm using the Acrylic 1000 display at home but for travelling and safekeeping i'm thinking either apache or versa

I don't recall the exact brand and model, but it's the type that looks like this. No latches.

The Versa Birdcage I was speaking about was this one…yes. I’ve never had even one latch come loose but even if you did, you have five more holding it together!

They come in 600 and 1000 chip sizes I believe. (I have 1000)

i went ahead and got the apaches 3800 and 4800 -- could always repurpose them for something other than chips :). 4800 does seem rather big lol.

The 4800 is a brute. I've got a 1,800-chip set in one of them. So heavy that it's worth splitting over two 3800s.
i'm thinking about 1000 in one of them or maybe 1500 -- and the rest up to 800 in the 3800. How much weight total including chips u think is the 4800? is it like lifting a 55 lb dumbbell or those 5 gallon water jugs?

9.5g-10g x 1,800 is almost 40 pounds. Add the weight of the case and that's a lot to lug around without wheels. So far it looks like the handle can take it, but it's pretty damn heavy.

I have plenty of cases, but I now use a rolling suitcase luggage. I have an appropriate size bean bag that I can add or remove stuffing. I padded the top screen to add top cushion and to remove any wiggle room. Chips go into the racks Justin is selling. Fits everything I need and happen to have everything laying around so I didn't have to spend extra money. I have cards and other accessories on the outer pockets. Having the rolling wheels helps tremendously.

I wasn't willing to buy a case where the foam will probably break down over time and the cost of a rolling case. I would for camera gear and lenses, but for poker chips this is doable.

Now I have pretty nice cases laying around that I don't use.

ordered 2x of Versa 1000 chip cases. hopefully they'll fit along with 40/43mm justin racks inside.

show us pics with the justin cases :).

i bought the apache 3800 and 4800 and awaiting justin cases ( i believe justin is going to confirm on inventory and i'll be able to find out how they look in these ).

You might have to take the bottom out.
i heard u should have some kind of strap / ribbon at the bottom for easier lifting of the last rack also. i haven't tested the apaches yet but they're pretty heavy duty.

I have not found a strap to be necessary. You fingers go into the grooves in the racks that are between the chips, and you can easily lift them out.

I've got an Apache 4800 from Harbor Freight. Threw a little bit of extra hard foam in the bottom and stacked 5 racks on the bottom and 5 on the top. Left space in the from for some Copag cards and a dealer button. This case is a BEAST. And the price cannot beat beat especially if you get a HF coupon.

AmazonBasics and Monoprice started making ones advertised as camera cases. I got the Apache 3800 for $27.99 during their last sale. Perfect fit for 800 chips.

I’ve got the Versa birdcages but went with their more traditional case for my PNY set.

Doesn’t look like 1000 chips in each case but it is.

My wife got me a Viper for my birthday, and I’m already really happy with it. One thing to note, which might bother some people, but wasn’t an issue to me - the barrels in this case hold 25 each.

This configuring here is holding 980 textured No Molds from Tina, with 900 x 39mm and 80 x 43mm. The barrels probably could hold up to 23 x 43mm each, but I was fine keeping it a round number and not forcing it.

Here is 1200 chips, in racks, in an Apache 4800 from Harbor Freight. This case has hauled these things for a 5 hour interstate ride just fine on multiple occasions. It can work for you too.
Nice case! Do you think I can fit 900 39mm chips and 100 43mm chips in racks in one of those 4800s? I would assume so since you have 1200 in there but I don't want to assume and would rather hear it from someone with this knowledge. Oh did you use pick and pluck foam or did you do custom foam? Cuz yours looks really really clean.

Very easily fit that.

Top is a 3800 with 800 43mm, bottom is 1000 43mm and 200 50mm. Its messy! With only 1000 chips youll have more than enough room for buttons and cards.
