I've been tinkering with my light 3b range lately and thought the topic could be an interesting discussion.

Specifically, which do you prefer, assuming we are 3b bluffing OTB to a single open with the intention of taking it down right there;

K7s: We have a K blocker so we reduce the number of KK/AK so we are less likely to get 4b. Also blocking portion of 3b calling range KQ/KJs etc. Suited for some equity if we have to take a flop. Will be hard to play postflop on many boards. Effect on image if we get to showdown.....?

67s: No blocker but easier to play postflop. We can make well disguised nuttish hands. Good for balance if we get to showdown.

I'll share my thoughts after hearing from you guys.

67s, more of a hit or miss type hand, when you hit, youre likely drawing to a straight or flush. If the flop comes Kxx, youre likely to lose more money calling one bet with a poor kicker and folding turns.

Medium and deeper stacks - 67s

Shallower stacks - K7s

On a general basis I agree. But I think we also have to take our villains tendencies into consideration when answering this question.

I'd prefer the 67 suited. More likely our cards are live and in addition we can make well disguised hands we aren't being ranged on based on our preflop action.

K7s is too much of a trap hand when we get called. Of the two, I think 67s is a better choice.

But I think an even better choice would be a weaker speculative hand, since the whole point is to end the hand. A hand like 67s with absolute position can be pretty sweet for seeing flops rather than taking an uncontested pot.

We should maybe consider doing this with hands of this type, but at the top of the range we wouldn't want to see a flop with: hands like 68o or thereabouts (avoiding high cards).

Of course, a lot of this depends on the tendencies of other players and how deep stacks are.
