I've never seen these before, but I'm sure some of you have. 8 vintage racks for under $20 seems like a cool buy

I like how they are angled as well. Pretty cool

I saw the bait too, but found another line ;) eBay is swimming with these in brown, different manufacturer, etc. (where the heck did they all come from???). However, I found an identical set of 4 green marble. I kinda like the green marble, so I went that route instead. $4.99 for 4 racks, plus $6.80 shipping, I figured what the heck. I noticed the seller had 2 lots available, so I grabbed 8 racks for $16.78 shipped. They arrived today. The boxes are split, which is great because now I don't have to store them! And I'm not kidding. I'm tired of holding boxes for items because they add value. PITA! One of the racks has a chip, but the others appear unused.

My Majestics fit perfectly, a hair snug. I like that, so when I move them, chips aren't flying around. Also, the racks do stack securely, which surprised me, due to the angle of the shutes. These might work out real well in my table-side cabinet, where I retrieve chips, etc. for the players. Also, they fit perfectly inside my track, should I decide to have them on the table. Not sure I'd have room for the in my game, but they are small enough, in that they aren't to high, wide, or long. Might be food for family game night in that regard

Kudos to @MegaTon44 !

How many chips does a rack hold?

23, almost 24 per shoot, so 69 per rack

NOTE: I did notice that the chips do not seat on the bottom. So the racks are a tad narrow, not allowing the chip to fully seat in the rack.

Perfect for 36mm Horseshoe tourney chips?

Perfect for 36mm Horseshoe tourney chips?

That's what I'm thinking. The 39mm are ok in there. My only concern would be wear/tear on the edges.

It would be nice to know if the brown racks are larger, though being from the same era, I doubt it.

I'm still looking for the right storage for my 36mm chips, if either of you have a link to current auctions for more of these at a low price I may pick up a couple and give a report as to how well they work for them.

There's something cool about these, just because they're so retro. But practically speaking, they're designed to be played out of. And one of the reasons we all buy good chips is because they stack well, so you don't need something like this.

Agreed. My intent was to use them as dealer trays. I don't use the volume of chips most games here do and they seem to fit the bill, other than perhaps a tad too tight

The ones I have are black with smooth sides, and hold 72 39mm chips perfectly. They're sold on eBay in boxes of eight under the name "Chip-O-Racks".

Geez, do I have to do everything :D Use Windman in your search for the green ones. I found one. Thought there were more green. Maybe Google it as well

I did see these, but the shipping killed it for me.

I'm kind of just grasping at straws here because I'm not happy with my plastic/66.7 racks for holding my 36mm chips. If I can find something else that works a little better I can design a storage solution around them, but I'd still like to have the chips racked in some way for storage or even starting stack distribution.

Well this just saved me a little money, thanks for this.

I will probably just hire someone to make me some wooden racks custom made for this size chips. I'm a cheapskate though so it'll be tough to bring myself to pay for it.

NOTE: there seems to be at least two types of the Chip-o-racks.

@pltrgyst stated it's the smooth plastic that might be a tad larger - I don't have those. The other racks are brown, have a design on the edges, and might not be the same size as his.

I will tell you that in the green racks, with chips slightly slanted, I can easily fit 20 Majestics. I almost bit on the black smooth racks, but what the heck. 20 chips is an even number, I really like the green, and I don't find the chip slant to be detrimental in form or function. My search is complete.

Here is what I think @pltrgyst is talking about:

Obv solution is obv. Don't buy 36mm chips.

It's too bad I don't have a time machine, otherwise this solution would work far better.

In reality though, I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought them, played with those chips frequently prior to the sale and I have no problem with the purchase of the chips.

It's just more challenging to find things designed for chips that stray from the standard dimensions. Luckily this community is pretty good at finding and suggesting new solutions!

FYI, @btbmason just sent me the $2 Jacks he harvested for me (they're very nice BTW), and they fit perfectly in my green marble caddies. I guess the Majestics are a tad bigger than the Jacks.

So far, these are looking good. I'll try them for my game and see how the "system" works. I'll hand out 7 stacks and the middle two racks will e empty and pushed to the rear. If not too clumsy, this should work out well. The tops racks are storage for Terribles not in use.

Excuse my ignorance but do they not make racks for 36mm chips? Or are they only available to casinos? Kind of hard to harvest some tourney racks I'd imagine.

As far as I know even Paulson/Unique (company who now makes Paulson racks) do not make 36mm racks. The tourney chips are kept in the same 66.7 racks as the other chips, or have been anytime that I've seen them racked up in casinos.
