I bought a bunch of chips that were sitting on a shelf somewhere at CPC, thinking I could find something interesting to do with them. They are comprised primarily of advertising chips, promo chips and custom chips ordered by persons between the early 90s through 2007 or so. There appear to be a few earlier chips in there, but not many. Anyway, me and the kid sorted through the boxes this weekend and pulled out all advertising and promo chips and set them aside. We also pulled out any military themed chips and set them aside in a different box. The remainder of the sample sets we made a list of how many chips were in each set, the mold type and a description of the set. Some sets had as few as two chips, others as many as 10 (with few duplicates). Oddly enough, I found one chip from a set that had been made for me as a law school graduation gift in 2001. Wierd... Anyway, those comprise about 1600 chips. There were also approximately 400 other single chips for home games that I felt had artistic value that we put into a separate pile for me to keep.

Anyway, I don't know what to do with these things. The promo chips I was considering making a rat rod set out of, but I will need more than just the promo/advertising chips. There is a shortage of white chips (as well as blue), snd most of the chips do not have denominations on their face (which may cause me stress). In fact, there are very few white chips amongst all of the chips that arrived. Plenty of green, black and red, but few white and blue.

I don't think I want to relabel the promo chips, as that kind of defeats the purpose of a rat rod set in my mind and the different molds SURELY have different label sizes, which would be a logistical nightmare. I probably dont need to keep the samples together for any reason. I am not the type to want to list and sell a bunch of singles. I am leaning towards simply putting together a coupe of quality rat rod sets from all the chips and calling it a day.

I am open to suggestions on how to better deal with this horde or chips. As an aside, the amount of roman mold chips is staggering. Far and away the mold with the greatest number of chips.

Here are the promo/advertising chips that we pulled out. A little oil and these would be gleaming!:

I’m not quite sure what the other chips are, the custom non promo non advertising non military ones.

But if they’re custom samples of chips for poker games, and you’re looking to offload many at once, I’m your huckleberry.

This will be a cool rat rod set. Slowly work on collecting CPC 1s by asking for singles from people who order new sets. If you need filler chips to get them into play, buy a few ASM barrels or tag on to someone's CPC order.

You already have the collection sorted, list the ones you don't want for a bulk price and say no splits.

Also btw I'm looking for very ugly chips to practice cutting them up (context).

It is my understanding that the manufacturer was required to keep samples of the chips they made, but I don’t like that they were all released into the wild uncancelled. This behavior reminds me of the ASM Vegas days. People may have ordered a custom set to host a secure game, at least that’s one of the main reasons to do so. This is not in any way OP’s fault, and I don’t know how to best handle the situation he is in. Even if he offered to sell the custom chips to the original buyers, only a miniscule fraction of them are on PCF. I got my first order of the Coconut Club chips in 2007 so they may be included in the lot.

The creators of these chips can rest assured that their home game with their custom chips remain secure. I'm not going to be offering these chips for sale to the public or otherwise, and anyone that has a true desire to have their original chips returned to them for whatever reason need only reach out to me and agree to pay the postage. I will likely ask you to prove you were the original creator, but assuming you can do so you can have them back only for whatever postage would be to return them.

I view each of the chips as a form of both art and history, and I can promise that I will not be looking to infiltrate anyone's home game for the purpose of using one of these chips surreptitiously for financial gain.

We always scream “get samples.”

Thoughts:
1. Shuffle stack by mold
2. Color samples by base color
3. Random color samples with mixed base colors and spot colors
4. Do you have all molds? Could you sell a mold mix?

The number of plain white inlays is surprising. Are they quality inlays? They almost look like a sticker that was printed on a home printer.

There are a bunch of inlays (mostly plain white) that seem to be of sticker like quality (they appear to be slightly thinner than regular CPC labels), but that may be a product of these having sat in a box on a shelf for more than 20 years drying out some. All of the labels are fully intact, though.

3 putt poker is @links_slayer I believe.

Casino Antarctica belongs to the long time mod from the blue wall but damn if I can remember his name and he quit chipping before the blue wall shut down.
That one stuck at to me as well. Like dang I’d love to nab that go with current 3 putt poker custom sample.

If David ever releases another bundle of custom samples especially after these years, dibs!

Also semi weird, you’d think these all would’ve went into a wood chipper for security purposes.
