I think that you could probably find those chips for cheaper on a different site. I have ordered Monte Carlos back in the day from ThePokerStore.com. I trust their site. That being said, there are plenty of great deals in the classifieds on this site. @justincarothers has plenty of great deals on way better chips then you will find with the Monte Carlos.

I have not used that site. The Monte Carlo set and similar chips are available through many sites, including apachepokerchips.com, who is a trusted vendor here.

I have made purchases from thepokerstore.com, and discountpokershop.com, and was very happy with both vendors.

Welcome to the forum! Lots of great affordable chip options to be found here!

I would buy samples here from other members, take ur time, maybe get used chips for less, or spend a bit more for better chips.

Are you looking for a cash or tournament set? How many players? What stakes? I still have some smooth Monte Carlos and they are nicer than dice chips but they can be very heavy once you put them in a case together.

I've used this site for misc items but never poker chips. It's legit but the chips you're looking at not so much

Here are some old pics of my Monte Carlo chips. I'm sure you can do better than these for not much price difference if you look around.

I don't really mind the weight, the set would probably be 500-600 chips so nothing insane that I couldn't carry. I was looking on thepokerstore.com after you mentioned it, and really liked the look of their smooth 14g monte carlos. Did you like the feel/quality when you purchased them, or do you think I should look elsewhere?

Everyone is going to have different preferences, it’s much better if you get samples of different types of chips to see what you like best.

Monte Carlo’s can be bought from a lot of places and shouldn’t vary too wildly, so it’s just dependent on which site you prefer to buy from.

We can help you figure out how many chips of each denomination to get, or if there are a different type of chip that you might like more.

ThePokerStore.com is a reputable site. I agree that early on, I liked the Monte Carlo chips. They were a huge step up from our old dice chips. Now that I own many, many more chips, I realized that when I am taking a case of chips to a game, the MC's are soooo much heavier than any other set I have. They will work fine for a set. If you are dead set on them, I would choose the "smooth" version that ThePokerStore.com sells.

I found that it wasn't that long until I was wanting a nicer set of chips. A set of Tina card mold or no mold chips that the vendor Broken Arrow sells on this site would be of a much higher quality and much more unique than common MC chips. Most of us here have been in your shoes looking for a decent beginning set. We all want to see people be happy with their chip purchases. Getting samples before you buy saved me from making a few mistakes early on. Just let the hive mind know if you have any more questions. Soon enough you will be assimilated and will become one of us. :ROFLMAO:

It sure seems as though my merging with the colony is well underway:LOL: . I thought for sites like Tinas you had to be part of a group order because they only sell in bulk, no? Do the vendors like the one you mentioned buy in bulk and sell to people on the site, or does it work some other way?

@justincarothers from Broken Arrow site vendor runs lots of group buys and makes it easy to order various chips that the Chinese vendor known as Tina offers. There are lots of sets that show up in the classifieds section of this site as well that are already put together and ready to be shipped. You can order small or large amounts of chips from Justin. Just in quantities of 25 chips I believe.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the info. So if I want to get in on a group buy, I just wait until he posts one? Also, does this work the same for companies like Paulson and Matsui, where they only do massive orders so you have to group buy, or for those two companies is it possible to do a custom order for one person?

I think the October one just closed he might open another one up for November soon.

You can do custom orders with CPC and Matsui on your own.

Almost everything that can be bought from an online vendor in bulk is crap. Stick with the forum sponsors and the PCF members with good reputations and rarely will you go wrong with quality.

Gotchu. In terms of buying from site vendors and other sponsors, should I contact them or wait until they post a group buy/ put something up for sale?

Should have the November group buy up tomorrow

If i wanted to contact, would i just PM them? Also do you have any people you would recommend? Thanks!

You can, and they have websites.

As far as members, I have had no problems with purchases and trades all my years here. You can also see feedback comments - there's a link under everyone's avatar.

This may be an unpopular opinion around here, but some of the inexpensive plastics aren't horrible, including the Monte Carlos, Crown Casino, and Monaco Casino. They all could have some issues, which may include weight, quality control, security, etc., but I've used all of the ones I mentioned in home games, and they look and feel good, and stack ok. Your mileage may vary, of course. As others have said, get samples, and don't rush the decision.

I ordered a sample. Thank you!
