Anyone here ever try to 3D print one of these ammo box inserts?
Haven’t tried this, but I’m definitely going to try storing ammo in my birdcages. No more guessing which box has the extra .357 magnums in it. I’ll just see right through the clear plastic and know!
The 50 caliber ammo can is bigger.I've not tried, but this looks awesome!! I'm already looking into options as I'd need to store more chips in there, but very cool!
I’m thinking of it as a self contained travel case for a game on the go.It's a fun idea. But just like with regular chips cases, I wouldn't want to waste the space on the decks of cards.
That is what I use!The 50 caliber ammo can is bigger.
Cool. I’d love to see some pics. That is what I use!
A: Squeeze one more slot in on one side and still fit a deck on the opposite side?
B: Have 5 slots on each side with a bracket for a deck or two on the end?
The reason for the clipped corners is that it’s to wide for meter printer, so I have to print it diagonally. I’ll see if I can fit 2 or 4 half height slots in the middle an stack a couple decks and a dealer button on top. I am worried about adding more weight though. The only other thing I would suggest is increasing the footprint into those corners more. I'd hate to see you banging up those chips very time they're going back into their home.
I was figuring on it holding two decks and a dealer button. I though I’d design and print different inserts to hold different configurations of things.I toyed with a few designs for this a while back, if you're not going to use the centre area for additional chip columns, I wonder if that area can be purposed better? Perhaps storage for dealer buttons or more card decks?
Hmm. I could make the whole thing a little shorter then print an insert that lays on top to hold the cards etc.Am I the only one looking at the inside of the lid and thinking card storage up there somehow?
Unfortunately my printer only goes to 220mm x 220mm which is why I need to print it diagonally and clip the corners.I think you could extend the ends so the print will touch the ends of the case and no chance the chips will, it looks like you have space in the middle to sacrifice.
Yeah, two decks and a dealer button. I was thinking of printing an insert to go there and keep the items in place, but I like the idea of making the insert slightly shorter to accommodate another insert directly on top for those items.Speaking of - what is going in the middle? Just a couple of decks of cards? I think that would be better served in the lid too.
I don’t know, I’m a noob at this 3D printing stuff. I considered it but I’m not sure how strong the joint would be. I was thinking of figuring out a way to get the two halves to interlock in some way but I’m not there yet.@One Eyed Dollar - isn’t there a way to slice the model into two prints so he can CA glue it afterwards?
In other words - Super Glue….An interlocking design would be stronger as well. CA is a fast acting industrial glue: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate
