Ammo Case Insert (1 Viewer)

Love this thread! I was wondering though, how many chips could you get in a can if you didn't care about the extras? Going by some online measurements I think you can get 12 stacks of around 45 chips, or 540 chips, in a 30cal can. Obviously you lose the handle so I made a place to stick a lanyard or string to yank it out.

Still needs a fair bit of tinkering.

Maybe a sliding detachable handle might work.

A few prototypes later and I have one that fits my chips. The stack cutouts were coming out a little undersized so I had to make them a bit larger than I wanted.
Got to wait for the ammo can to arrive now, check that this fits, then print a full sized one.

It begins! See you in 12 hours.

It's going to take about 500g of filament . I might do a second revision to reduce or remove more plastic so it's not quite so heavy.

Finished! Not the most perfect print but it fits! 48 chips per stack and 12 stacks gives you 576 chips total with no wiggle room.
I've attached the Fusion360 file and STL file in the zip if you want to customize and print off your own. I suggest printing just the first two layers to test the fit.

And thus ends my double-post spamming :D

Edit: Took it to a work game today, it's pretty heavy and the handle is uncomfortable to hold for a long time, but it's a darn sight easier than lugging around that long plastic suitcase with the exploding handles. I think next version I'm going to slim it down to fit 500 exactly, with enough room at the top to fit two bridge/poker decks and possibly a button.
