Another PCF 2022 Fantasy Football Thread...? (1 Viewer)

Sorry, I don't have an extra player. And I'm fine with 12 or 14 - whatever
 
The League roster below has been finalized & we are set to Draft on 9/5/22 at 7 PM Pacific, 10 PM EST.

I understand some of you will be doing Superflex and/or Salary Cap Drafts for the first time therefore I strongly urge that you all do a couple of mock drafts to familiarize yourself. It is a fast-paced process once the draft starts, & it will be helpful to know how to nominate & bid on players.

Although this is a Superflex league, you are NOT required to start a QB in the QB/WR/RB/TE position. But in general quarterbacks produce the most points therefore it is highly advised that you draft TWO starting QBs & use one in the Superflex.
However feel free to employ whatever personal draft strategy you desire.

Any questions or concerns? Don't hesitate to shoot me a DM or post your comment to the league's Message Board. Good luck fellas!

*Top 3 get paid.
1st - $350
2nd - $170
3rd - $80

**The Nomination order will be set randomly, 30 minutes prior to the draft by Yahoo. Because it's an auction draft, The draft order does not matter since everyone will have an equal opportunity to bid on each nominated player up to your max allowable budget.

***Salary Cap Draft = Auction AND Auction Draft = Salary Cap Draft.
Apologies if there has been any confusion but I have been trying to use the new terminology. I surmise the Fantasy industry is moving away from the term "Auction" because of past negative connotations.

Thanks so much for organizing this, very happy to get in on one more fantasy league this year. I've done a couple mock auctions, very helpful. Definitely seems 10x more fun than a snake draft

If u have not done so, there is still time to do a Mock Salary cap Draft. Again I strongly urge you to do at least ONE so you will know how the nomination & bidding process works. If you don't care & plan to just wing it then that is your prerogative.

Nice bit of trickery n distraction there @Pinesol13. Y'all had me thinking that I was organizing a soft, fun little fiddy dollar league to dominate... then I leave the draft feeling like I was bamboozled haha. I mean what sorta idiot takes 4 QBs? Oh right the kind of idiot like me Lol

Haha, I’m really glad I got 3 QBs. The 4th though, I’d like a do-over on that one.
 
We don’t get draft results for auction drafts? I know they don’t mean anything, but I like seeing them anyway.

I've gotta convert my other leagues to auctions, that was amazing! I don't feel like I did that great, made a few classic mistakes and left money on the table. But damn that was fun!

The usual argument is that Salary Cap drafts take too long, or that people won't know how to spend their budget properly but as you can see from last night, that's total non-sense. I've seen auctions end quicker than Snake drafts sometimes when GMs know who they are targeting & bid on certain players straight away, as opposed to hemming n hawing over a 10th round pick.

In my opinion @Pinesol13, the best way to convince others is to explain how with auction style EVERYBODY has an equal shot at CMC, Taylor, Kupp etc.
And in a snake draft, you would absolutely have ZERO chance of drafting the top studs if you had pick #6 or lower.

Took me a few years to convince my family league but u should keep proposing the idea if u like it. Tell your league mates to try Salary Cap draft for one year & if they utterly hate it, you can always go back to snake the following year.

I felt that the auction draft took the same amount of time as snake draft, and usually in my snake draft leagues we have like 4 auto drafters lol. I should've studied some salary cap strategy more, but overall it was pretty fun bidding trying to screw someone over but then they stop bidding and you buy a QB for $50 whos not Josh Allen :)
 
This was definitely faster than our regular snake draft. I’m pretty sure our snake draft lasted longer than 3 hours.
 
Interesting to hear others say the auction took the same, or less time, than their snake drafts. I'd say this took about twice as much time, although my other leagues are all 10 teams.

They for sure are, so much so that Josh Allen is usually the first or second pick ina 2 qb league where he would go in round two or three or four in another league.

But damn, yeah. I think my second is Matt Ryan, I'll give him and a rookie RB for Pitts. ;)


And just to be clear, I’m definitely not implying something shady. I threw in some winkies. Just very surprised.
 
I definitely got caught trying to bid up a few players, I don’t think it’s horrible value but it definitely hamstrung me later in the draft when I wanted to have $20 or $30 when everybody else had eight or nine. It’s absolutely brutal seeing five or six names that I try to draft in every league and I’m out of the bidding after four dollars.


But yeah, sometimes you’re just trying to make someone pay a few more dollars for D’Andre Swift, and then sometimes he just ends up on your roster. Lol

No collusion at all @12thMan, seriously. I was actually considering just hoarding QBs and keeping @quintooo's team hamstrung giving us a weekly easy W on the schedule. But I shot him an offer for his Top TE (which I figured would get rejected) n he accepted :unsure: so Idk, guess I win on paper.

So on that note, this is also the reason why Trades are Commish Reviewed. I strongly and highly encourage trading if you feel you need to improve your chances to win. Unless a trade is over-the-top obscene & if multiple GMs send me objections, I will pretty much push all trades through. My only criteria normally is, anything goes as long as both GMs are trying to improve their teams to win.

I gave up on the voting system bcuz people would veto a trade simply if they "didn't like it" and/or didn't want to play a future opponent who may have improved their squad. Hardly any trades ever got approved in that system.
And ditto what @upNdown said, QBs r just more valued in superflex leagues.
