Another Tuesday Night hand #2 (1 Viewer)

I'm like a call, especially closing the action, but can go for a raise, as I stated earlier.

Yeah, I think I'd jam it all it here, or as much as we can. We might get a fold, and if not, we're in pretty good shape.

I decide to just flat here. Yes there are many cards that can help us on the turn, but the ones that don't either have us drawing dead or kill our low draw, so I want to see what the turn looks like before I go crazy.

The turn seems favorable for us, the :8d:. Board now reads :ts::6d::kh::8d: and we are holding :2d::qh::2s::jd::ad:. Pot is $117, action is on us.
What do we do?

Rhetorical question I assume…….

We don't have a hand yet. It seems like there are something like 15 cards that are very bad for us and 15 cards that get us the nuts. Maybe more if you count the aces, but that creates a low that we don't have, and there's always a chance we're chopping broadway, so I don't really love an ace.
I guess there are 12 non-diamond cards that give us the low, but even though we have a pair of twos, there's no guarantee that we're not getting quartered.
I guess the equity is on our side here, so that means we should pot, but that 8 wasn't the greatest card of all time.

Worst possible outcome is a satellite with a decaying orbit plummets from the heavens and crashes into your living room, crushing you on your couch under its tremendous weight.

The second worst outcome is you lose your internet connection and fold.

The third worst possible outcome, which is incidentally significantly more statistically likely than the first two, is there you check and it checks around because everyone picked up straight and low draws and has showdown equity now.

(Disclaimer: I don’t know what showdown equity is anymore than I know how to repair the Hubble telescope on a space walk, but let’s not quibble on minutiae).

I pot here knowing that at least one clown will pile out of the car in the center ring and call if not re-pot/jam.

:qd: would have been the perfect turn card
other broadway straights made with a club would have been good, but you wouldn't have had redraws which is always dangerous
Any non ace or non 2 diamond is pretty much next best thing to improve equity

Definitely an equity favorite at this point, just a question of by how much.

How about making a less-than-pot-sized bet? I don't want to lose any customers. Not worried about getting quartered. Lets make it $50 or $60. Sets up a nice sizing for value on the river.

I decided to check, with the intention of repotting. I was hoping one of my opponents would have a two-pair type hand and would try to push out the low draws by applying maximum pressure. I check, UTG ($165 behind) checks, UTG+1 pots for $117 with $258.75 behind.

This is what I planned for, can I do anything other than repot in this spot?

Given stacks gotta push it in now
Seems to me that’s a bad reason to push it in.
Given the stacks, I don’t think any villains are likely to fold to a push, as opposed to a flat. So, if we’re actually concerned about losing, then a flat would make more sense, I think.
That said, I think you need to push it in now because as far as I can tell, you’re something like roughly 33% to scoop, chop, or lose it all, which puts the equity squarely in our favor, I think. And as long as the equity is in your favor, you should always be pushing it in, in a cash game, right? (Unless of course you can make more by milking it.)

My assumption is if we make our hand the bill and won’t pay off, so get it now and possibly realize fold equity

I wouldn’t have trusted someone to do my betting for me, but this is a dream situation. Pile the money in. If you somehow miss everything, reload and win the next one.

I go with my plan, and repot, hoping to avoid a deuce or the board pairing. UTG folds and UTG+1 calls.

I was in nowhere near as good shape as I thought, as villain did indeed have a set, and 3 of my diamond outs (the :9d: would have given him the straight flush).

50/50ish. And this is about as strong as he is going to be against you. It's a good lesson the other direction as well - some play top set like it is the nuts but against combo draws, it's pretty 50/50.

Thanks for sharing the hand.
