Are poker mats any good? (1 Viewer)

I agree. I didn't care for it either. However I don't have the loot/storage for a third table so this worked in a pinch. Plus I think I got mine in a CT group buy for 20 shipped (or close to that price). this, it was just horrible to try and shuffle off of one of these things.

I'm pretty sure BG was talking about the poker hoodies. At $150ea I think they're too expensive too.

I've thought of putting some type of speed cloth on top, but I'm not sure if you just lay it on top it would stay in one place. I'd be interested in thoughts on that.
I would guess not. SC is about the consistency of construction paper. If you lay it across a table the edges will stick out straight and not drape like a tablecloth. If it was rolled up it will also tend to retain that shape so it can be tough to get it to lay flat. You'd almost need to cut it to the exact dimensions of the table and put tacky rubber matting underneath.

Then you've got the issue of what to do with the edges. Unfinished edges will fray and if you've got it cut to the exact table dimensions that means peoples' wrists will be rubbing against it which is uncomfortable.

You might be able to make it work by cutting it large and using a bunch of clips but I don't know how well SC holds up to repeated flexing, clipping, rolling, etc. I just creased a piece of scrap and the crease looks permanent. That could be good or bad.

DJ, thank you for the feedback. I thought of it recently, but hadn't asked about it. For my situation, I really don't know of a better solution. The neoprene works fine, but I'm open to other ideas.

mats came in the mail yesterday..... I opened one up and tried it out. Dumb me forgot to take pictures so I will do that in a few days (I am hosting a game Sat night). Overall they seem like the quality is good...the stitching around the edges is nice. Only problem is that they are not very "cushy".... more of a cheap mouse pad you get free with a cup of coffee rather than a nice mouse pad you'd have for your desk at work (y)

Mats beat playing directly on a wood table, but they work much better if you have some padding under them.
