They print the actual chips and then send a picture. Note that samples may be printed on spare chips, so may have mismatching edges. I'd think (but I'm not sure) you could request proofs printed that has your rolling edges printed since that is very important to most chip designs.

-get samples/proofs printed

I submitted our order today. I am expecting next steps to be the generation of an invoice, final confirmation of quantities, payment and approval of proofs/samples, shipping, waiting, CONUS delivery, re-shipping, waiting, and then final delivery!
