The picture of that Jeep got my gears turning as well. Bad Ass for sure. But I’m going to refrain for now. Nothing in Virginia worth running over with that beautiful machine. :ROFLMAO:

I'm guessing that either gets sold right away, or he raises the price.

Mine was listed for more than that and had a number of issues.

It is becoming very clear to me that my Jeep is going to be more of a “run into town to get groceries” kind of vehicle. You people do crazy shit!

The above is moderate, not that hard for a rig on 35's with lockers. The last two are Dishpan, which is steep, but not really hard. Though I'm not a fan of steep.

The real hard stuff in CA is the desert, winter season. Many trails that I haven't even done yet because I know they can get expensive fast.

Could someone with more brains than me tell me what the difference is between all the 06 LJs I see here and the 06 TJ in my driveway?

EDIT - other than mine has more miles :)

An LJ is a TJ Unlimited (longer wheelbase). LJ is technically a made up nick name (Long Jeep) for the unlimited. Other than being longer, they are TJ's.

In 08, 'unlimited' became 4 door.

I almost got plates on my LJ yesterday. I had to make a DMV appointment, and I arrived with all my paperwork ready to go.

"Did you buy this vehicle from a dealer?"
"No, I bought it from a guy who bought it from a dealer."
"We can't process this. He has to get a title in his name first, then sign it over to you."

Shit. So I talked to the seller (who conveniently lives 45 minutes away and in a different county) and he was super cool and apologetic because he'd been told he could just sign it over to me. He made an appointment at his DMV on Wednesday, so I'm going to meet him there with the title and he'll get a new one, then I can make an appointment to go back to my DMV and get the plates.

Sounds about right. There's ALWAYS a problem and they could give a shit. They'd rather send you on a scavenger hunt.

I had a nightmare situation after buying mine. Had it for 3+ years and a friend noticed my tags were expired. Long story short: The previous owner of mine bought an XJ and they registered the XJ under my VIN in a different state. Then told me I don't have title. Um, SEE THIS PINK SLIP?? I lost my shit and almost got thrown out of the DMV. That was a giant pain to resolve.

Damn.

I got plates for my LJ today finally!

I've been accumulating parts off craigslist and facebook. Got a pair of Riddler diff covers for $100 for both, brand new. JKS quick discos. Bunch of small parts. And a pair of Bestop soft half doors for 20 bones (they cost $250 new, so that was pretty sweet). They're in great shape other than being dirty.

I bought a bikini top, but first I need to build a little cart to put my hard top on so I can roll it around to the side of my house.

I ran my VIN and got the build sheet today, and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it came with a limited slip in back.

This is NOT a Gladiator...

My suggestion is to get a slightly older JK Wrangler/Rubicon, because the world of mods and accessories is so extensive. You will soon be taking extra long baths just to have more time to go through catalogs...

But also familiarize yourself with various chronic Jeep issues, e.g. the “Death Wobble.”

Good that you got your plates without committing a homicide. :D

Definitely some good deals there, especially the doors. A few weeks ago, someone on CL had listed a set of half doors and uppers with the plexi slider windows for $650. The ad was only 2 days old. I messaged the seller a few times, but no reply and then the ad was deleted. Heart breaker! The zippers are about done on my soft uppers. My 2nd set in 6 years. I'm going to get the plexi sliders next. I'm sick of the zippers.

I'm getting my XJ ready to sell, and I fixed the leaky water pump over the weekend. Now the driver's door wiring harness has been infested with electrical gremlins that really, really want the doors to be unlocked. Like over and over, nonstop. I can control the speed of the repeated unlocking by wiggling the connector where the door harness comes in behind the kick panel. I had to just unplug it to drive home the other day without my locks clicking the whole time. I've already rebuilt the whole harness inside that door with new wires, and it looks like I get to do it again. Yay!

I bought a wrap around cargo net for my Jeep today. So next weekend, when it arrives, the doggies can go Jeepin with me!! So excited!

edit: I think it looks ugly...but will be so great to have the doggies along for the ride

That should help stop things from flying out. I know I've lost a few things that *probably* blew away at some point.

I bought a Bestop Trailmax II rear seat for my LJ off craigslist for $100, and it's in great shape. I hadn't seen it before until I spotted the ad, but it's an aftermarket seat that has headrests, which I thought would increase safety when my kids are in the back, so I picked it up.

I tried to install it the other night, but the brackets didn't quite sit right and I ended up breaking the little plastic spacers that go between the brackets and the rods on the seat on both sides. I emailed Bestop about getting replacements, and I got an auto-reply that they are experiencing heavy email volume and may not reply quickly. So last night I sat down and modeled replacements and started 3D printing them. This was a test run to check the dimensions. I'm printing another one today rotated on its side to make it stronger. Hopefully it works out and I can get the seat installed soon!

I contacted Bestop about the two broken plastic shims from my seat. The customer service guy found them in a bag with the floor brackets and other parts, which they can sell me for $42 + shipping. All I need is the two pieces of plastic! So I installed it the other night with my 3D printed replacements, and I'll see how they hold up. It's a cool seat.

I like the head rests! I showed the pic to my wife hoping she'd want to use 'our' money to buy one of these. She just gave me that look like when I mention anything else Jeep related...

I'm missing my Jeep right now, getting some work done. I'm getting the rear shocks out boarded an front relocated to accommodate longer shocks. At least I'm not missing much. It's still hot here in Socal and the mountains are closed because of fires. The fire that closed the Big Bear area was started by a gender reveal party that for some reason decided to use pyro. This happened on the hottest weekend of the year when it reached 117 degrees, in an area with lots of brush. That fire is still going 2 weeks later and one fire fighter is dead. I hope they tell their baby that story.

Alright, which one of you lot was driving on bike trails in Loma Linda over the weekend?

I assume you're talking about this:

That guy is lucky to be alive. WTF??? I live about 10 minutes from Loma Linda. Not exactly sure where this is though. Not a trail I've been on... :D
