Bad bad run... (1 Viewer)

I have to agree that 3 hours is hardly constitutes a bad run. Sure not winning a hand in 3 hours is somewhat unusual, but it is only one night (and honestly I've never only played for 3 hours as our games typically last 6-8 hours). Not having good cards is certainly part of poker and it is good training for patience, which in the end is an attribute that all winning players have. It's no fun to not have playable or winning cards for three hours, but it gives you a good opportunity to study the other players for tells, betting patterns, etc. Now if you're bad run lasts 2 months or more, then you can complain. What happens in any three hour period in poker doesn't even count as noise.

I couldn't agree more. If you lost a large chunk of your bankroll in 3 hours, I can understand being upset, but you shouldn't be putting that much cash down to begin with.
I've had 2 month long losing and winning streaks before.

Tighten up when you are losing and cant seem to win. You will have to play much better.

When you are running bad, and I mean cold-deck city, your mind will start to play tricks on you. You will feel like you are a terrible player.
It will seem like every time you have a real hand someone always is re-raising you from position.
They are, and they usually have that one hand.

It won't last forever, just make sure to lose as little as possible, (money saved is money made), and not let it get to you.

Take breaks after bad beats and do not dwell on losses, it will only make it worse.

THX for all of the advice. The bad run went more than that session and I've seemed to turn it around. The bankroll was never in danger. In an earlier post I mention changing my game and I think the changes are making me a better player.
