So I’ve spent a fair amount of money on sample chips. I’ve seen it mentioned a few times and wish I had the option when I first started. So here is a basic sample set of chips to get an idea of what you might like and hopefully save you a little money so you have more to spend on what you want.

What you get:

10 of each style; Milano, Scroll, Poker Knights, Sunfly Hybrids (unlabeled), Chipco (basically the same as GOCC), Mint, OWPS color wheel (Sunfly ceramics), Nexgen, Majestic (blank), Unicorn.
If you’re looking for CPC or Paulson chips there are other ways to acquire those at reasonable prices.

Please make any suggestions as to what you’d like to see included.

This is a loaner sample set and I will be requiring a $60 deposit (please see PayPal PCF rules/warnings) plus SFRB shipping cost. If the set grows it’ll need to go into a MFRB and deposit will grow but feedback might cause that to happen.

Deposit will be refund after the chips have been received back by me in satisfactory condition. Things happen and these are intended to be shuffled so I won’t be super picky but broken or lost chips need to be replaced so I’ll have to charge for that.

Let me know if you have questions or anything you think I missed.

Thanks to @p5woody for the unicorn chips.

If others have sets they think would be beneficial and should included in the set let me know, chances are I have them.

Was attempting to get a nice cross section of chips (ceramics, china clay, plastic).

Great idea! (y)

I've got 10 GOCC custom ceramics from trial prints I could offer up if interested in including. Let me know.

Hey I'm looking at ordering a set for family Game night and am torn between done of the cheaper sets. Looking at scrolls, poker knights, Milanos, and Nevada jacks mainly but would really like to take you up on this really cool idea. I can pay through Facebook or whatever you like

Welcome, Jampiece! As far as the few sets that you've listed by name, I think most here would steer you toward the Milanos because they are a 10g china clay chip. Have fun navigating around the site!

I've never really paid mind to the types of chips I play with at the local cardrooms or in Vegas but now that I've been looking for about a year and recently we got a game going at a family member's house I've been paying more attention. One local room uses Paulson's for the 25 and hundreds and a custom mold for their ones and fives and I have to say I much prefer the custom mold but I have no idea the material. I like the not so sharp edges and sound they make better

The other casino close to me uses Paulson's for everything and their fives are very worn and easier to shuffle and what not then the sharp Paulson that the other Casino has but will never play with them enough to wear them like that unless the China clay wear a lot lot lot lot faster

For some reason I feel like I'm going to like the Ceramics a lot more but before I sink any real money into it I thought I was going to order the samples which is why I'm actually stoked that forty4 came up with this thing right as I'm getting ready to make my order.

Is this still available? I’d be interested

Are these available still? I would like to see them to pick what set I want to buy. I also wanted to check out tiki king chips so I would buy a sample to include in the set.

Big thanks to Forty4 for this setup. I see a lot of people saying to get samples. Boy were they right. Being a new guy, I was just going to order some Milanos. Found out, they were not my cup of tea, and that I actually like ceramics the best. While not a terribly expensive mistake for me to make, I still would've been bummed. So take everyone's advice and get samples!! And take Forty4 up on his offer. It can only help

Very cool to do something like this, to help fellow newbies out. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

I just found this thread, although I have been a semi-lurker for a while. I am finally looking at getting my first set. Are these available currently?

Also, the Showdown chip is one I was previously considering getting. These are the same as the pokerknights correct? Just diff label?

Yes to both

Yes to both
I would like to take you up on this offer then if possible.

The only note I found on my quick search for pp was to make sure I do not reference PCF. Are there other notes I would need? We can coordinate via PM for your payment email/my address etc if that sounds good?

This is such a great idea and I wish I had found this thread before I spent $100 on sample sets!

Just a suggestion but I would like to see one of each denomination. There are some sets that look great in photos but you find that one chip where the colour doesn't sit right and spoils the whole set for you.

That would be ideal but I never liked that most sample sets only had about eight chips and I always wanted to shuffle so it was better to buy the 25 chip sleeves.

These have arrived. Thank you so much again for providing this great opportunity! They are in great shape. I will keep checking these out and comparing them and will plan getting these shipped back to you Monday or Tuesday

I am interested in doing this! I just posted about looking for a new budget set of chips and quite a few of these are ones I am considering. What would Shipping cost me to and from Charlotte, NC.

USPS SFRB is $7.20 each way.

Looking for clay poker chips! I have Casino Da Vinci poker chips that I bought back in 2005ish and the $25 and $1 chips are only now starting to chip (see picture). Not bad and I'm pretty satisfied with the look and feel of these chips! I'm pretty sure the chipping is due to the portable poker tables we use as the cushioning under the felt is minimal. From my understanding these are 100% clay chips, which I really like. I've used the $25 and $1 chips the most (use the $25 chips as 25¢ chips in my cash games). Can you or anyone else recommend where I can buy these same chips or something similar? Need to buy more 25 and $1 chips Thanks in advance for your help!
