I would like to try birdcages again and can't really find a consensus on a high quality option in past threads. My first experience with a birdcage was in my pre-PCF days when 1000 of my glorious official casino weight professional clay discs took a tumble all over my living room when the handle separated from the base. I am definitely not excited about that happening with thousands of dollars worth of chips now. I despise the Pelican case option and I love my Versa briefcase style case but would really appreciate having my chips organized into barrels.

It seems like the ones at Apache and Spinettis and Texas Poker Supply look identical to your standard Amazon Brybelly ones. Are those ones really good enough?

What's good out there?

Also trying to find a bird cage with racks that will work well with my set of ceramics I just ordered. Any help would be appreciated

Did you decide on a good one? I'm buying one later tonight online and very curious...

These used to be my favorite...

Back when they were $43 with free shipping. But I haven't bought any since they jacked the price to $50 and tacked on $13 for shipping. $63 for a birdcage is a ripoff (in my opinion). But it's definitely a nice option if you have the itch.

in the end I decided against an acrylic birdcage because I just don’t trust them with that many expensive chips so I got the Versa 1000 bird cage which is a bit different but I can still use racks and it is incredible durable:https://www.amazon.com/Versa-Games-1000pc-Deluxe-Carrier/dp/B07L8LLCR8
Whoaaa.... I haven't seen that before. Please post pics and a review when you can! :tup:
I can see getting the bottom 4 racks is going to be a PITA. The bottom 2 look like you'll be removing by the barrel.

I think the photo is only showing 8 racks. Looks like the bottom has some thick foam...

I will post some pics tonight including some showing me grabbing the bottom racks. I don’t have any problems grabbing the bottom racks.

Granted I don’t have large hands, but it is not terrible pulling the bottom racks. You can take out one barrel from one of the bottom racks and then removed that rack if it is that difficult for your hands. The last rack after that would be easy. For me this is still better than pick and pluck foam with Pelican cases and much more trustworthy than standard acrylic bird cages if you have to move the case around a lot.

I just discovered that the birdcages that I have actually fit Matsui racks. Is this common? I thought people had a tough time getting carriers that fit these racks.

The 600 that I got off Amazon also fits them. Past posts seem to say that matsui are the only 43mm racks that fit...

Oh, that's totally awesome, Tony! Go ahead and put in my 5-cage order for those medium duty ones if they are the same inside!

If I recall some past discussions correctly, it was the other more typical type of 43mm racks that don't typically fit in birdcages, but the Matsui type are slightly smaller and do typically fit. (Note, I haven't measured it myself in the birdcages I have, and I don't own many 43mm chips anyway.)

[Edit - I just now scrolled down and see that @waddadonk said the same thing already.]

do you happen to know if this will fit racks with lids?
I have 8 GSE racks with lids but I am unsure if the added height and little extra girth of the lids will fit in this case. Do you happen to have inner dimensions? Is there any wiggle room side-to-side with your racks in place?

Unfortunately I do not and I am away from home for an extended period otherwise I would measure the internal dimensions for you. Hopefully someone else in this thread can answer.

Thank you for the quick response!

Just for reference in case anyone can help, here is a pic of the 8 racks with lids:
Exact dimensions are:

Height = 8-3/4"
Width = 8-6/16"
Depth = 6-1/2"

These are really cool chips! I’m a bit new, so I may have missed these. Can I ask where they came from?

CPS” Championship Poker Series china clay chips designed and made in a group buy many years ago I believe. Gorgeous design. There are a fair number in circulation in the community but they can not be bought new in retail.

I purchased them from the Classifieds section on this forum. I am also very new here and I've learned a lot so far. The Classifieds section is great!

I was looking around and there was talk of a second run! Does anyone happen to know if that’s happening? These would be China clays I’d be happy to own!

Here is a bit more info on the added 'girth' of the lidded racks:

The lids add just about a CPS chip's width to both the length and width of the racks (about 1/8"):

4 lidded racks stacked is just under the height of 5 un-lidded racks:

I have actually seen CPS sell somewhat frequently lately. Maybe post a Wanted ad.

I hadnt heard about that other than I think some people possibly doing Some with high end Chinese plastic or hybrid chips. But if you wanted something similar @ABC Gifts and Awards does a very similar series on ceramics:http://abcgiftsandawards.com/ultimate-poker-champions-chips/

Not gonna happen.

But there were 300,000+ chips made, so plenty out there.
