Best Closing track ever ? What album ? ( This should be interesting) (3 Viewers)

I'm assuming no one even knows this band really, and probably would not like this type of music, but I'll suggest the song "Forget About Life" by Alvvays (pronounced always) on the album "Antisocialites".

I love this band and when I saw them live, they blew me away. I've never seen a band play live that sounded exactly like they do on the album.

Here's them playing this song live (but not at the concert I was at). Her voice is just unbelievable imho.

I was gonna say that, but they have a "secret song" called Her Majesty, which is all of 23 seconds. I do think the short song medley at the end of Abbey Road is absolutely brilliant. Sun King, Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam, She Came in through the Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry that weight, The End, Her Majesty. No breaks.

I got back into album rock during covid, some of the albums mentioned here are my favorites. I think Moondance by Van Morrison may be my all time favorite, not a bad track on it.

Great thread!!
I knew about “Her Majesty” but like others said “The End” just wraps up in harmony every thing that was The Beatles. And it’s my favorite Beatles album.

Cool question. Great mix of favs from everyone.

My take on it isn't what's a great song that happens to last on the record. But rather what song is the perfect closure to a great record. To that end, "Love Reign O'er Me" as finale to The Who's Quadrophenia is the utterly perfect ending to an amazing record.

And "Ripple" closing out the Dead's Reckoning is another perfect punctuation to a masterpiece.... then again, hard to go wrong with any dead recordings ending with Ripple. Let there be songs to fill the air.

Suicidal failure
Suicidal Tendencies

Just a quick aside. Back in the day I belonged to Columbia House, around 1992. The Art of Rebellion was a CD I could get for "free". Picked it up on a whim, along with Lights, Camera, Revolution. I don't know if there was an album I listened to more around that time than Art of Rebellion. Nobody Heard and Asleep at the Wheel are great tunes.

Luniz "i got 5 on it"

Master P feat The Diplomats "i'm bout it bout it"

Tupac & Snoop "2 amerikaz most wanted"

Are these closing tracks though? I remember 5 on it in the first 5 songs of Stackola... I could be wrong though. And I think amerikaz most wanted was around the middle or beginning too??

You are surely right.
Maybe I didn't understand the question (Best Closing track ever?) Lol

If I interpret "Closing tracks" a bit loosely as "closing a show", then I have to nominate Queen's We Are The Champions. After it's release they closed all their shows with it (followed by a recorded God Save The Queen). I especially like this version from Wembley 86:

Another one of my favorite closers. Can’t think of one bad song on this entire album.
The album is a top 5 all time. Nothing like it when it (edit. Fat fingered) came out. Like you said not one bad song.

Another classic imo…..

Eric Clapton - “Let it Rain” - Eric Clapton titled album

it’s easy to come up with great songs by different artists but it’s a challenge to think back on the last song. I’ll have to look back on all the vinyl albums I have!!!

Maybe not the best ever but highly underrated and mostly forgotten from an incredible album...

Hell yes. Agree wholeheartedly as well about it being an incredible album. Some people use the "Seattle sound" term as a negative and lump everything from PJ to Nirvana to sound garden together and kind of treat them as trite because of how unique it was, and still, is. But holy cow there was some REAL good music that came out of the NW in the 90s and this is one of the best. This CD was mind blowing to eighth grade me and it's not much behind that today.

Thanks for the reminder, this ones on loud now in my house as I'm painting and will be played front to back. :D
