Best tournament set (2 Viewers)

For the curiosity, what would a set of these cost? (I know I have no chance of affording these)
They essentially are not for sale, unless you live in France (and even that's no guarantee that any current owners would be willing to let any chips go).

I do know that full sample sets sold for around $165 two years ago -- $95 of which was for the 25,000 chip alone. Prices for the other denominations ranged from $7 to $30 or so.

Last year I made an offer of $6k for a 500ct set of 25s, 100s, 500s, 1000s. The owner said I wasn't even close to other offers he's recieved. Still wasn't selling.

Holy sugar nuts !!

average of $12 per chip ! I like them but please.. tell me there are only 10,000 in existence, and that they used gold flakes to give the chips weight

No chip is that nice... IMHO.

Its all relative though,

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
If you LOVE that set. Maybe a splurge of $6k on it isn't so crazy.

I am curious though, as to what is driving the price of that particular set up so much, demand i understand, but is it quantity? history?

Maybe put the Avalons in the Acura ($2-$3) category?

ACF was the best French card room (and probably european), opened in 1907 on the Champs Elysées, any great gambler went there.
Like it or not, the tourney set is quite awesome - it was the holy grail of any French chipper.
Quantities are scarce, and most of the owners wouldn't sell unless they have no choice, it will most probably the last chips they'll hold to.
In the USA and in Nevada only, there are many casinos with great history... While in France, ACF was the only cool place, even very well-known casinos such as Monte-Carlo or Deauville are so posh that very few people would love them. ACF is something special...

I would add that the ACF welcomed the WPT for 10 years.

and the final head's up Surinder against Tony G was for me the best head's up of the WPT history !

This final was played with Bourgogne & Grasset chips.

The last WPT were played with Paulson chips.

To me, the rarity drives the price, but the desirability is all about aesthetics - THC mold with bright colors and bold edge spots. It's a huge contrast to the Stardust Mansion chips that you love. And like I said above, there just don't seem to be many casino tournament sets to begin with - they're all rare. I think the ACF chips are by far the prettiest of the rare.

I do think they look great, and i think the poster who's name is not a name but a fish, explained, what makes the cost high was the history too. For me its higher than i'd be willing to pay for sure but someone wants them and wants them bad. So up goes the price!!
