Best way to ship exactly 24 chips? (1 Viewer)

I was always worried about my SFRBs being banged up in transit. I still use SFRBs, but never without putting that box into a priority bubble mailer, then putting that into another priority bubble mailer. Plus, you can easily put 2 SFRB inside of 1 padded envelop. Cost effective and more secure.

No zone price difference in 1st class.

Adding the the knowledge: weight limit for First Class is 13.0 ounces, packaged.

The 24 chips in question will weigh around 8 ounces, so we're good...

A comparable 40-chip set would be over the limit by an ounce or so, after packaging.

If you can really put two SFRB (Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box) inside a PFRE (Priority Mail Padded Flat Rate Envelope), that's really useful...

One SFRB: $7.15
Two SFRB: $14.30
One PFRE: $7.20

I can definitely fit 7 rolls of 25 chips into one SFRB... that's 350 chips.

That being said, most sets are well over that.... but there are always exceptions.

For reference , I am able to ship up to 15.9 oz 1st class with my business stamps.com account, & anyone may be able to also do same if printing g the postage through PayPal.. It's about $4 & change for 14-16 oz 1st class

Is it possible this is a change?

I get that it may be a business versus retail limitation, but:

1. I got rejected at the Post Office counter today for First Class with a 14.1 ounce package.
2. The USPS web site makes no reference to a higher limit for business.

I had packed into a bubble mailer envelope. I guess that if they'd hit the button for "package" instead of "envelope," it would have been allowed.

Well is it possible? I guess so. But I don't like it let's put it that way. :D
Let me know if the 100 chips I have in the mail to you come through OK!

Now that you've received chips sent that way - does it still look too risky, to you, to send chips that way?

It's not what I'd do with high-value collector's items, but it seems acceptable for new ceramics in the 75c or less range. Not everyone will agree.

FYI, I received 6 chips today - a short, loose stack, wrapped in a big wad of big bubble bubble wrap, jammed into a small fixed rate box.
So there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Maybe, but there's no reason to make the cat suffer during the process. :whistling:

The best way to ship them, is my way. (meaning to me) (y)

My vote is SMFRB. Shrink wrap the chips twice and wrap/stuff in bubble wrap so no movement happens. If you need to insure it, insure it. Not hard and not worth saving $4 to $6 imo, unless I am missing something?

They definitely arrived safe and sound so thank you sir. I agree that it works for some chips and likely will work for most, but it still leaves me with an unsettled feeling in my stomach.

I've also received irreplaceable rare chips from vendors in those standard white chip boxes just placed inside a small flat rate box. They arrived safely thank god but it scares me to think about how nasty it could have gone.

Crazy, but you can actually ship any object by just attaching postage and an address.

So prob would be most efficient to put a stamp on each individual chip and a tiny address label.

Or just carve out a potato and insert chips. Nature's organic padding......
