Big Al's Speakeasy - Leaded Paulson Hot Stamps (1 Viewer)

Sorry to bump an old thread but 2 things:

1. Always looking for more yellow quarters. Please. Offering up $30/chip. Maybe more if you really want to bend me over…yup I said it.

2. If somehow someone finds a rack, or whatever, of these, please don’t mill them. I know these are yellow (a desirable color) and they’re from some insignificant, off-the-strip, no name casino but I would make it worth your while to save these. Please step away from the drill bit.

There shall be no milling here....

My man!! That’s great to hear. I was actually going to reach out to you directly and ask to keep an eye out for me haha.

I love this set. My wife’s uncle called her “Big Al” as a kid. Her name is Allison and she was a tall kid ;)

I wish more were available, she’d get a kick out of playing with them.

Oh that’s cool man. If she would enjoy a sample set, I could peel one off for ya (just this once though for you) or you could spend a few hundred on eBay hunting for a sample if you’d like haha. Yeah I am not sure what the chip numbers were here but seeing as this was a small casino that was only open for a few months max., I highly doubt there were too many made honestly. But who knows how many of these old chips are being stored away in some basement somewhere that we don’t know about right?

Hey all. Thanks for checking the thread out.

Little background first. I was bored one day about 6 years ago or so and decided to just do a generic search on eBay for chips with my initials or even better, my name on them. I figured I would have the best results searching for some ADC or AC monogrammed hot stamps. I didn't find too much interesting so I took a shot in the dark and searched for my first name "Al" or "Alan". Boom...searched brought up a Big Al's Speakeasy yellow quarter, and I thought damn that would be cool to grab a few of those. They weren't cheap as singles but man I had to have some. Big Al is what a lot of the people who know me call me...I'd like to think it's because of my manly stature but it's most likely because of the beer gut. :) So over the next year or so, I was in contact with many eBay sellers trying to track down as many as I could of this set. I found out that this was a casino in Vegas which opened and closed in 1980. Sweet, any chips out there must still be in great shape right? So I had accumulated a handful of fracs, ones and fivers and thought that this was pretty cool until I reached out to @Spinettis Gaming and found out that they had a decent chunk of these chips...all the way up to the hundos! Once I picked myself up from the floor, I started thinking of stuff to sell. Damn it, I had already sold off most of my expendable chips. So I bought what I could at the time (the last 300 fivers that they had) and saved over the next couple of years and slowly bought what I could until you see the final(ish) set below. So excited to have this set and after a good clean and oil, they're ready for some action. Seriously I'm so frickin pumped to have this set, and I can't stop fondling them. I just had to share my excitement.

TLDR: I commissioned Paulson to do a leaded hot stamp set with my name on it! :cool  :ROFLMAO:

(143) $.25
(408) $1
(317) $5
(80) $25
(20) $100

Absolutely beautiful!! Not sure how I didn't see this until just now, but all I have to say is

It's the simple things that get me excited!
Thanks man appreciate it. Sometimes simple can be beautiful right.

Wow what a really cool article! I appreciate you digging that up. Definitely saving that cool little tidbit. Thank you so much.

Too bad I was not a chip collector back then. I could have taken racks of chips out of there. Instead of just the 25 center & the $1.

Crazy question but would you happen to have any idea on approximate quantities of denoms…especially the fracs? Do you think they would have had multiple racks of fracs.?
