Just toying with the idea of a $1,000 plaque to go with the set. GOCC recessed ceramic plaque (approx. $7USD) would be the way I am thinking, if I do it. Truth is, it will probably never see play, ever, but ...

First mocks. What do you think?

For some reason that comma in the 1000 really bothers me!

The gold / slim font 'Blades' is quite hard to read against the green background.

Cool plaque tho!

Thanks @Toby, I am leaning towards the ivory one. I normally wouldn't use a comma, but many of the plaques I have seen use it. Will try one without it.

I'm really hesitant about trying for a B&G-type plaque look (like this dragonara):

Ceramic doesn't have the transparency of the real deal. Ivory sounds like a better concept. You can still do color, like on these vintage chips:

I think you need to include the 1776 date as well, if it's on the chips. It might crowd things, but "Park Street, London" might be cool too (since you have the real estate).

Thanks AT. I reckon the ivory would be the go for the very reasons you say :-). Of course, '1776' :-). Oops. I might leave out the address though.

I think I wil go for the 82mm x 57mm ones.

Cheers mate,

Adam

On the design considering you already have a white chip coming maybe consider a red plaque? Casino Royale poker scene had red plaques iirc.

Also aren't your chips going to be used for cash games? (100 = $1 etc. ) if that's the case instead of going from a $5 chip to a $10 plaque you could just jump straight to a 2500 ($25) plaque.

I was thinking that as well :-). Will play around with it.

:-). I think a $10 plaque would be the limit for me and the crew :-). I like the idea though, but our buy-in is in the vicinity of $25.

A single buy-in is about the right value for a plaque, IMO. 2000 would be what I would go with. Matches Australian bill denominations that way, doesn't get in the way of $5 chips.

Hmmm, just found out from GOCC that the image area is not that big for recessed plaques. May have to reduce the images or go for a flat plaque. Back to the drawing board when I get home.

Do you know their minimums? Matsui isn't going to fly at all here with 100 minimum (and the unit cost). Is Abbiati that much lower?

No, much higher actually lol. Just saying they fit with the theme, like the actual plaques from Casino Royale.

Because there are a few restrictions on the image area with the recessed GOCC plaque, I trimmed the place name and year off it to keep it a bit cleaner. I also tweaked the colour so it was not so much white, but rather a yellower, aged ivory. I also decided to make it 2000 @atomiktoaster :-). I figure that I would be just as unlikley to use a 1000 as a 2000 so I thought, what the heck.

The Old West ones have no recess and would allow for more image space, and are cheaper, but I think recessed is the way to go.

Courage did some Argosy plaques (ttttubby & OWPS) that emulated acrylic transparency, and they turned out great.

Typical punctuation for most chips/plaques is to use a comma for five digits and up, and none for four digit numbers. But for these, I'd go with a European-style period, and I'd probably use it regardless if it were any of these denominations:
1.000
2.000
5.000
10.000
20.000

Wow @BGinGA , that is fantastic. Thanks so much for your input. I having been playing around and have decided that I prefer the larger area of the OWPS plaques. I did see the Argosy ones and that was what convinced me. I love the Abbatti 'Blades' plaques. Where did you get the template for those :-)?

A different look for the flat plaque.

Wow, that's awesome. The fill textures for the gold letters and red circle look much better than the versions on the previous drafts. For the location, I wonder if "Westminster" or "St. James" is more appropriate than "London". I might look around to see what other club would have used.

As far as the dot separator, it doesn't fit at all for an English location. That convention is limited to continental Europe.

EDIT: Looks like "London" fits best. Might as well go with what Boodle's uses, since you're borrowing their B logo ;)

Hey AT, perhaps I could change 'London' to '1776'.
