Hi all! This might be a bit of a unique request in here.
I collect poker chips not as collectables, but as nice cash replacements for board gaming. We play a lot of heavy economic games which are an absolute pain to use paper money for, and some of which don't even come with money with the expectation you have chips already.
We use two different breakdowns depending on whether we have $100 chips or not, with the breakdowns being:
* Preferred breakdown: $1 x 80, $5 x 60, $25 x 40, $100 x 20
* Alternate breakdown: $1 x 80, $5 x 80, $25 x 40
We're currently running a set of casino used Horseshoe Cincinnati primaries and have a few sets of China clays, but am still on the lookout for a set as I'm not completely sold on the feel of the China clays or the design of the Horseshoes (the colours are a bit flat.)
We're completely prioritising look, feel and value above condition or collectability: these chips are going to be used multiple times a week and we're concerned about practicality (want pleasant to use and very easy to discriminate between denoms, prefer vivid colours and edge spots.)
If anyone has barrels or sets which fit those breakdowns and they're willing to let go for a reasonable price (not overly concerned about condition unless it greatly affects feel or usability) please feel free to get in touch. An example of chips which might fit well for our use would be leftover chips after good condition chips have been cherry picked.
Cheers,
Michael
