This year, I decided to run a proper tournament for my monthly home games to try and drive up attendance.
4 hour game every 1st Saturday of the month. £10 buy in, no rebuys. Only one person I play with really cares about the money (he keeps trying to get us to increase the buy in, but no one else wants this, so I'm resisting for now). Usually get 5 - 8 people, which is enough for us. Looks like this year might get a bit more attendance, though I've set a limit of 10.
So I set up and shared some rules, created a chip calculator, blind calculator, and score tracking spreadsheet, and everything went really smoothly.
Bearing in mind that I really didn't place in poker much before this, and in Jan I was out first (of 8), that was shortly followed by a streak of 7 placements, 6 of which were 1st place! It went downhill from Sept onwards, but I ended up clinching the win by 1 point. Interestingly, even if it was a points draw, I would have walked away with the win due having the most wins in the year! And in the (very tense) final, the only way I could have lost would have been if I was out first (I was - lost the majority of my stack 6th hand in with 8s over 4s vs Aces over 8s, or something silly like that).
So, I've bought my own bloody trophy! I'd say it's embarrassing, but everyone's been well prepared for it for most of the year
Here's the point tracker spreadsheet (I'm P1):
And here's the blind and chip calculator:

And now its on to next year!
