Grandpa’s Rounds - A tribute to my grandfather. (3 Viewers)

Fun Fact: The $500 chip in this set was originally set to be a snapper, but then I thought, "What if I have this set as a guest set at DiD and some how they get in play at a table with @MatB @Goldfish and @CraigT78? I'll need higher denoms." :ROFLMAO: #TrueStory #ChippersMindset

Here's the original artwork for the snapper (hint: it's literally the same artwork with the denom changed)

Awesome writing !
I really enjoy to read it and the chips are really nice.
The best part is what you explained about your son. It was quite emotional to read this part.
Congrats !

Once the $5 was oiled, it was by FAR, the star of the show. As far as itself, this was my 2nd least favorite chip (the 1 was my least favorite and still is because I can’t get the stains off the edges), but once I oiled it, this $5 stole the show. It looks so antique to me that’s it’s just the perfect fit for the set.

…that’s a lot of oil, I know  :ROFLMAO:

I agree the $5s are hot. And I agree that's a lot of oil!

Is it the oxidized brass on the $1s that is bothering you? Did you try vinegar + salt soak? Make a difference for me (removed about 95% of the spotting):

I don’t think you can see it in the pics (intentionally), but a lot of the $1’s are just aged (which fits) and the wear and tear have left them stained. I saw your post, and I’ll definitely look into this process, but at this point, I can’t risk losing any chips cause I’m already on the bottom end of the numbers. If I can get my hands on more, I’ll definitely try this!

It's what you say and what he said. Age and the brass flakes. All older ASM and CPC white chips (and some other colors) look like this. I don't think it's staining, because on the pics you posted, it's only on the white part of the chips. The pink part looks fine, because that color doesn't have brass flakes in it.
