Bridge vs Poker? Let's argue! (1 Viewer)

Tell what you like better and why. As a magic the gathering player my hands are so used to poker size cards that all the bridge ones I have felt feel disgusting and alien.

Granted, the poker size I've felt are faded spade, while the bridge ones are copag (i think I've felt copag poker size once before but can't remember) and maybe it's the stiffness of the faded spade being what I like more so it makes me think I like that size over bridge, but I genuinely can't tell.

I want to order some faded spade bridge but don't wanna spend $80 on cards I don't even like. So, convince me one way or the other!

Honestly for me, even playing SOHE or 5 card PLO poker size seems more natural and isn't much harder to look at for me, and I have small hands. But this is the general consensus I've heard.

I think I'm just so used to the size from playing magic for years. logically it makes more sense that smaller cards are better for those games tho

If I played PLO or some other games more I would probably enjoy bridge more, but I don't like the feel in my hands for both dealing and handling in general. There is a satisfying feeling to poker size when you're playing hold'em.

I should like bridge-size more in theory, especially since we play a bunch of Omaha or Big O or Scrotum games, but poker-size is easier to handle and shuffle (for me at least) that in practice I think I'd rather play with poker-size cards.

I'm 5' 6" and my iphone 11 is the size of my hand both height and width, but I also like poker size

I use both. not at the same time. Right now desjgn is my favorite. Haven't played with the faded spade bridge yet. But they are heafty.

As a dealer, bridge are much more comfortable to shuffle and deal with. Before I started dealing I thought poker size felt better, and that quickly changed when holding the stub all night for a tournament.

I used to only do poker but changed to bridge 10 years ago and haven’t looked back. I could probably get used to poker again though. I also used to do only standard but now I really prefer jumbo. Age thing maybe. Standard makes sense for Omaha+ of course.

So there are few perceptions on which is better.

1) Either you have a shuffle tech, which boxes bridge cards so you only play with poker OR you shuffle by hand all night and regardless of hand size bridge is easier on your hands at the end of the night.

2) You're crusty old dude that can't see shit and need jumbo poker
3) You play 5 and 6 card games and you have woman like hands and have 20/20 vison and want bridge cards.

Agreed. What a concept, different cards for different games! If I'm playing a game that requires holding lots of cards Bridge is the way to go for fanning purposes. (ie Gin Rummy, Hearts or even BRIDGE) If I'm playing NLHE I personally prefer Poker sized because of their size + everyone can see the cards better. (My vision is great but some of my players not so much)

Card wise I think Poker is the preferred size for all poker related games.

I collected and don’t mind using either, personally I think I slightly prefer poker size over bridge size

People around me with smaller hands (like my wife) tend to prefer bridge size as it’s easier for her to hold and shuffle

I’ll argue for bridge size because that’s what they use in all of the casinos and cardrooms I’ve played in (at the poker tables.)
But I own both sizes, I use both sizes and at this point I don’t think I care.

Bridge. I was going to go into this long winded explanation about having Stud in the rotation, table size, blah, blah, blah but in the end Bridge size just feels better to me. I have plenty of poker sized, but I will choose Bridge every time and twice on Sunday.

This is also the reason I switched preference to bridge. I degen too much at casino poker room and bridge sized cards is what you play with.

Playing with poker sized cards at a home game is just weird to me now.

I'm 100% a bridge guy and will rarely play anything else. Why?

I think it's mainly psychological. Everywhere I have played since I started playing poker used bridge, including the 2 main venues I currently play.

Also... I am a little guy with little girl hands, so there's that.

I also just think they feel tighter and better to play.

Better to compare the sizes, juxtaposition makes it clearer.

Don't have a super strong preference, I just want all the cards, but poker makes the pretty pictures even bigger.
