Not Mine Buck a chip Outposts? (2 Viewers)

Chips arrived today. All I can say is thank god the mailer package didn't tear open..... because the seller was totally clueless on how to ship these:

"Place 100 chips in a rack, run a single piece of cellophane tape from one end to the other (masking the middle third of the chips in each barrel), slip the rack into an oversize bubble mailer with no padding or filler material, and close with just the peel-n-stick sealer. Add shipping label and let the evil USPS workers at it."

Needless to say, very few chips remained in that 'taped' rack during the six day trip from Nevada-to-California-to-Georgia. Ended up with a 9x11 mailer full of loose chips banging into each other and the loose rack. Even my non-chipping wife knows better; she handed me the package this afternoon saying, "You're not gonna like the sound of this." Thankfully no chips were damaged, and since the mailer miraculously arrived unscathed, none were lost.

So, received a total of 100 x $100 Outpost Casino San Ramon small-inlay Paulson TH&C chips, in used but very good condition. I'd put 'em on par with the Empress secondary hundos (maybe a tad better, no nicks anywhere on these), plus they are much cleaner with no rack-check marks. One genuine used Paulson rack included, so a pretty good deal for $100 shipped. According to the eBay listing, there are 59,705 chips remaining, although no small-inlay hundos are left in that count.

The fact that these arrived unscratched and not as chip shards after being packed this way qualifies as an early Christmas miracle.

yowsers. glad they arrived intact. That reminds me that I wanted to put together a "how to" on shipping 100 chips in a USPS small flat rate box (no rack). It might be something that we can point unaware sellers to so that they get an idea what is necessary to virtually guarantee no damage.

Mine came in today. Same song, second verse. I got the 40 $100 chips I hoped for but they were packed loose in a bubble mailer. No problems.

BGinGA and DrStrange, please check are these $100 chips the LCV or SCV?

I second that question!

After some communication with seller, I was contemplating ordering two racks of the THC 100's to use in a tourny set (possibly as an alternate). Finally decided against it because I wanted to avoid an impulse buy that I couldn't afford, AND because I thought shipping might not work too smoothly due to seller's (apparent) inexperience. I would, at this moment be stressing over the fate of 200 chips slammed into an envelope and sent to my Sister's house in the States where I wouldn't be seeing them for days or weeks PHEW! But I still hope these aren't LCV, cause I'd still kick myself!! :(:p

I hate to say this, but I can't see the difference between LCV and SCV chips unless they are side by side.

The Eisenstadt has the answer:

Or, you could compare chips you already have with the hundos.

A random sampling of 3-4 chips per barrel (roughly 15-20 chips total) would indicate that all are SCV.

Yikes. Packaging sounds absolutely atrocious. I hope everyone else that bought these has similar luck.

Anybody else have problems getting their chips? I ordered 600 from the seller and got in 440 today. They were not packaged very well and I think they broke open in transit.

I have never had to dispute a transaction eBay before. Any tips on how to proceed?

Yeah, earlier in this thread there are accounts of shoddy (at best) packaging. The seller either doesn't know how to package things properly or doesn't care (or both?).

I don't think they have any experience with chips of this nature. Pricing seems to indicate no knowledge of the product.

I sent an email to see if she can fix the situation before I escalate to a refund claim.

Negotiations aren't going very well. She claims that I'm a victim of theft and I need to investigate with the Post Office. Is'nt this backwards? I'm assuming the liability is with her since she shipped the package. I have asked that she send more chips to complete the deal. Am I out of line for making this request?

You are not out of line with that request. Make sure your communications are going through the eBay resolution system. If in fact she did ship the proper quantity and the package broke open (due to poor packaging) and she doesn't have enough chips remaining to fill the order... it is reasonable to request a partial refund. If she didn't get insurance on the package, she is sol on that... but she is the only one who can open a claim on that.

she's likely SOL either way. i don't remember the exact number off the top of my head but i am 0 for something like 4 or 5 with USPS insurance claims. it's a joke.

I picked up my $100s today. Again, absolutely atrocious packaging, but it survived, and no (obvious) damage. I got two wooden racks in a thin cardboard box, taped closed. Maybe the wooden racks protected the bottom a bit, but sure didn't keep the chips from sloshing around in the box. It sounded like a box of cereal.

In any case, the chips themselves are in pretty good shape. I concur with BGinGA's comparison to the Empress $100s.

I'm a little bit disappointed, in that I bought 200 chips and only received 196, and I had requested small inlays but got 5 with large inlays anyway. Overall, not perfect, but not too terrible. The price was good.

Oh, and 100% of the small inlay chips that I got are SCV. (I checked them all - my CDO lets me spot that sort of thing easily.)

I've had one successful USPS insurance claim for exactly the conditions you're describing. I hope - and eBay should make sure - your order gets made right. Good luck!

I got the rest of my chips this week. The seller eventually made good on the sale but not before waiting until right before eBay was going to step in and also trying to get me to pay for shipping the balance. The shipment also arrived 4 chips short of the total. How do I rate this transaction? She did do the right thing but in the end but it was kind of a struggle. Kind of a mess.

Hmm, sorry to hear it was a struggle. I forgot to update my situation: I contacted the seller and let her know I was 5 chips short and 5 were the wrong inlay. I asked to buy 5 more of the small inlay chips and pay for shipping, and she agreed to send me another 5 to complete my original order. They arrived the other day and my two racks are complete.
