Building 2 NEW Tables - Argyle Poker Night Thread (4 Viewers)

I need some advice...... I love the field design, but the betting circle needs some work...

I'm changing up my current table felt, it doesn't perform very well when dealing cards, it's sticky and hard to deal - I bought it from the https://www.casinosupply.com/ guys here in DFW because they were local - lesson learned Now I'm getting my new felt through @T_Chan

I'm close to finalizing the design but I wanted your thoughts.......

The main, larger suits are a little too bright & crisp I think.

Here's my current design on my table now. The betting line/circle was to small, we're making it larger now...

Video coming soon, but here are some pictures of the new felt from @T_Chan & I also installed a metal drawer - I used threaded inserts to attach the drawer to the table - I'll remove each time so I can fold up the legs and hang my table on the wall.

Poker Night is tonight as well! 28 on the list for the $80 T10k tourney.

So the drawer was a HUGE success for the host, aka ME! I really like not having to get up anymore, re-buys came to me while I was still able to play my cards and it worked really well for hosting the cash game as well. I was able re-buy, add-on players really easy, again I did't have to leave the table anymore. I loaded in $4,200 worth of cash chips in the drawer before we started playing and just pulled from the drawer all night.

The @T_Chan felts was really nice, I didn't tell anyone I upgraded it & there was a couple players who noticed really quick - "did you spray something on the felt", "The new felt is really nice, so easy to deal cards across the table now". I'm really happy with the felt, makes dealing extremely easy and we just so happend to have 2 horrible dealers at the ends of the table - that's just the way the odds always play out when we draw seats for some reason! lol

We had 24 players at last nights poker night - 10 re-buys and 19 add on's!! Paid out top 6 and the top 5 chopped the pot at roughly $550 a player with some deals made to end the game early!

I busted shortly after the break on a suck out river to end my night early, made $197 in our 1/1 cash game! I ended the night in a 3 way all in, UTG went all-in for $78 - the CO called and I jammed for $400 plus. The CO called, he had me covered. UTG has pockets 10's, CO has AA & I had AA's - we split the side pot to end he night!

I have those same exact chairs for my game, some real good Costco quality there. Love the look of the tables, that's some fine work for sure.

I just finishing reading every thing under this post. First point have to be, big congrat to you mate, how you can organise these regular texas game in the rather short period and running it so well; Secondly, how you managed to make your own poker tables is insane, great efforts and great outcome. I wish I live nearby, for sure I will attend your game every single time. LOL!

I am also kinda a host of Texas Hold'em, and currently orgainise weekly cash game on a Sat night, it's painful to get enough people though, we only have a group just over 10... To get even 6 handed sometimes is nearly impossible. I currently owned a set of Metal insert chips, a poker mat, and we normally use our dining table. Currently custom make my own cash set, I put our group name " Texas Hold'em Squad" for the inlay, the colors are very similar to your royal card room set(43mm as well, ceramic card mould), can't afford those fancy paulson chips, can't wait for my custom made chips to arrive. (Late Dec I guess)

Anyway, congrats for your home game! Will follow up more pics and videos from you! Keep the good work going! Cheers.

Thanks bud!

Yes, getting players to remembers, or commit to poker is tough, even with 100 players in my group - I get an average of around 24 players each tourney. Some player only like tourneys, some only like cash games. I tapped into 2-3 groups who used to play poker or only played once or twice a year, so I was able to get the game up to speed pretty quick. I'm also always marketing the game to friend I know or met that I think would enjoy the game. Players will always eventually drop out, so you need to try and add new players all the time as well.

Good luck!! Sounds like a poker table is in your near future too!

We had 23 players, 10 re-buys & 18 add on's last night! Cash game ended at 3am & I made it to the money, we chopped the pot at the final 4 & each walked away with $580. Unfortunately, I ran card dead in the cash game and donated $175 trying to make something happen with my dead cards!

Another great turnout! We'll be back in December for our End of the Year deep stack, freeze out Bounty tourney!

Would love to know how this is working for you and where I can get the same exact one. For my counter top I bought the poker table matt from Amazon. It's basically a humongous mouse pad, is this what the one you have feels like? I want to have a custom poker table made and love this design.

The table is working out well - felt & chip drawer were nice additions to the table.

Amazing work! Been on this thread for the past hour following your journey. I love the new felt and love it for you to have a better quality surface to play on. My question is, what is the size of your betting line. I agree that the previous line was too small, but this on is perfect. What are the dimensions? Looking forward to seeing the rest of your work on this thread! Thanks!

Thanks for following along - my table is put away - I'll try to remember to measure it when I get it out in December for our game and report back.

We got the vinyl rail back from the upholstery this week, however we had to make some temporary decision regarding the felt & plexi to get the table ready for our Poker Night this Sat. The custom design felt wasn't going to be ready in time, so CasinoSupply hook us up with some SSC for cheap so we could use the table this weekend. Instead of painting the plexi and installing it with potential of scratching the paint when removing it to installing the custom felt down the road - we decided to use some left over hardboard just to get the table up to par to play on this weekend.

We decided to have a professional install the vinyl because we were nervous that we couldn't get the faux ostrich install properly since the material didn't stretch like the Whisper vinyl I used - well worth the $150.

We throw 2 coats of spray paint on the edge banding as well tonight, we'll sand and put a couple more coats on when we're ready to install the custom felt. We also cut off 1.5" off the legs, however we we're not able to reuse the rubber feet - so I'll run by Home Depot so see if I can find some ft to use.

The tables look amazing! You mentioned a professional installed the faux leather vinyl. I'm in the DFW area. I'm looking for someone that could provide that service for me. Could you share the contact or company name for the profession that installed the vinyl?

Such a great build! Great shop too! I'm really late in seeing this thread but just wondering if you had the remaining photos and details on the finishing the plexi and the felt?

Never mind! haha I found the rest of the thread... :wtf:

Awesome thread! Tons of great info for a beginner and amazing table builds! Hoping to work my way up to these type of poker nights soon!

The table is finished!!! Can't wait to play on it - this weekend is our groups poker tournament / cash game!! I decided to make little blocks to help support the plexi from being pushed or moved once installed.

Are these blocks to align the plexi? Or support for the rail? Maybe both? Ha. Thanks

That's the lower/front on the raised rail. Some people put LED lights behind it to create a glow. It's intent is not support, but it may provide some stability.

I just realized I watched your YouTube videos a couple of years ago before finding this site. It made me want to build my own table and get some chips. I’ve finally built myself a table and got a set of chips. Thanks for sharing your story, or maybe my wallet would say curse you  :ROFLMAO:
