I'm looking for what would be the best general fabric to buy for custom sizing that is not specifically a table topper but also does not have any nap.

I've tried both micro suede and velveteen, and while I really like them both, I don't like the nap. So far I haven't been able to find out what would be a good alternative besides just felt which is pretty cheap. I can't find any actual "gaming suede" that I can just buy by the yard.

I bought speed-cloth before from Casino Supply. They sell it by the foot so you can customize the length. It’s specifically made for card games and compared to my old felt that started to pile/nap near where I dealt it’s a world of improvement.

Also recommend reading the below, avoid my noob lesson. If you don’t go for speed cloth, definitely try to pitch/deal cards on a section of the material. I bought a fabric based on feel, glued it all down and… the cards stuck to the surface :(

My only issue with speed cloth is the feel, but casino supply might have something better than what I bought off Amazon.

I get exactly what you mean on the sliding and that’s part of the issue with the ms and velveteen. Luckily what I’m doing is not as big as a full sized poker table so pitching isn’t a major challenge either way, but yeah the nap def affects how they move. For me it’s more gathering them up than dealing them.

At the beginning I was using just regular cheap felt and yeah it piled like crazy right away.

For some reason the ssc at casino supply is half the price of the ssc at texas poker supply.

Do you know anything about the difference. Casino Supply calls them Pro SSC and Texas poker supply says its made in USA, but casino supply doesn't specify from what I can see.

Hey sorry - no idea. Bought mine like 5 years ago with some volara foam and it worked great. Don’t remember seeing many options back then.

An option (if you’re patient) might be to buy a sample yard from each and see what you prefer. 50% less is a benefit though.
