Bummer that they couldn't see the benefit of distributing their product to a larger number and perhaps increasing future sales.

Thanks for the try Dennis. No one faults you, and i think people realize that Kard-not-so-well changed their minds.. I mean, I have gemaco setups, and you're telling me that they buy individual decks and then repack them into the gemaco two-deck setups? Ya, ok...

They clearly did not see the value in the deal. The goodwill alone -- both for their company and for this particular deck of cards -- would have been worth it for them. (Maybe 150 setups of Gemaco Superflex decks on card tables all over the world, and people getting to see and feel them, and hearing their proud owners raving about them.

There must be something I am not seeing.

I note that Joe Kardwell is a very nice guy, so I'm thinking he or someone in their office took a second look and realized something was off. I really don't get why someone from Kardwell didn't call me when they realized the mistake. (My first contact with him was after leaving a phone message with my name and number.)

I think they would have waited until I placed the order to tell me the actual price.

As it happens, I was a bit concerned that they would have quantity minimums on each type of Superflex deck. (They don't, and you can mix them.) That's what led to my e-mail, and their response.

Great effort, but sometimes the receiver drops the ball. It's all good. I was at odds between which decks to get since Bridge Jumbo weren't available. I just knew I needed 4 setups of something!

Which I knew to mean 8 decks.

I'm also in this camp... Not because the deal fell through, but because of the shadiness of that statement... The Setups come already setup... There's no way anyone with card knowledge, such as the owner, would make that mistake. If they don't know that, it makes them look bad. If they knew that, and said that as an excuse to back out of the deal, it makes them look bad, and it is insulting to us, like we wouldn't know it was a lie...

Last week -- before the Gemaco Superflex debacle -- I sent e-mails to U.S. Playing Card Co., Modiamo, Copag and Gemaco. I explained that I am a licensed retailer and registered with the federal government as a distributor, provided a business license number, EIN (employer tax id) and company DUNS number, and noted that the company has been in business for four years.

No response, so I made some calls.

U.S. Playing Card will let you retail Bicycle coated paper decks. Anybody interested in those?

Modiamo -- no response.

Copag sells through Copag Direct. You can't get wholesale prices, but if you buy a dozen of a particular setup, you can get 23 percent off. (Don't worry. They make up for that in what they charge for shipping.) Here on PCF, Copags have been classified as the lowest tier of high-end cards. I'm holding off on those because of that.

I requested a PDF catalog from Gemaco. No response.

Piatniks? Easier to find Jimmy Hoffa. The only ones around have full bleed Monet art on them.

I thought I'd just buy two decks of Gemaco Superflex decks, based on BGinGA's strong, positive opinion of them. I found Karwell International, and decided to buy there. When I looked for a discount code online, there was this posting that they would be "50 percent off" beginning March 1," and you guys know the rest.

Attempting an "end run," I tried Gemaco again today. So far, no response. It looks like you simply have to call them with a $50,000 order to get their attention.

The biggest challenge has been repeatedly stated here: PCF members want the stuff you really can't get. When you can get it, they don't want it anymore. At least they don't want to pay the shipping.

They are owned by USPC. Based on the above, they are not available to Dennis. It's a shame, as they are great cards. For whatever reason, they don't want to promote them here.
