So my poker chip storage solution fell apart, and I'm looking to arrange a solution for my soon-to-arrive Boardwalks.
I know I won't find what I'm looking for, so I'll have to modify. There was a beautiful mod done by @John Masterfly that reminds me it's doable...
I'll probably buy two cases and mod them to hold my set. I have a lot of 39mm chips coming, but also a bunch of 44mm chips, and I also have a bunch of plaques. I'm not giving exact numbers, because I can be flexible about how much is loaded in the cases for active duty, versus which chips I hold in reserve/spares/sell off.
Anyone have suggestions for cases?
I'm considering the Brybelly-type Mahogany Wooden cases, putting 39mm chips in the top trays and modifying the bottom, but photos online don't tell me much about how difficult it would be to carve out and mod the bottoms.
I'm also not against a more conventional case, like Masterfly did, but I'm only seeing aluminum and ABS cases where, once you remove the inserts, you will not have clean corners to work with. A fully-squared box case like Masterfly used would be better. But 300 chip cases won't do - I want to house the set in no more than two cases, if I can.
400 chip cases are a possibility - I'd have at least three of them, but I wouldn't need to bring out more than two on any given night, knowing what stakes I'll be playing.
I have up to 1200 39 mm coming - denoms $5 and below.
100 44 mm coming - $20 chips.
And have 20 Matsui Hundo plaques.
(I also have another 60 44mm bank chips, mostly hundos, in case I ever let go of the Matsui or dedicate them to another set. These 44mms can go in the active cases, but they have to.)
Any suggestions on cases to consider? They do not have to be identical, but they should match - that is, I can use a bigger version for the numerous low-value chips, and the smaller version, modified, to house the remaining chips, the oversize chips and plaques.
