Cash game bad beats (3 Viewers)

A crazy hand at @mike32 a few years ago. The gambler of the group (John) rivered a straight flush (I think it was a gut shot straight flush draw) vs flopped quads. 300'sh pot in a .25/.50 gameMike can verify if I'm correct or not.
C'mon man John was open ended, and dealing I think. Back when I had all those hot stamped TRK's.

This has nothing to do with the hand, but I have exactly 1 of those red TRKs stamped JW3 that another member threw in with a sale to fill up a rack. I always wondered where it came from as I hadn't seen them before.
I bought around 1200 of them as new old stock from someone in Louisiana on eBay for around $150 back in 2009ish. They were dust covered and mint, but I couldn't get past lack of denominations. Got them in play a few times then sold to a CT member. I think some have been milled and relabeled, and look really sweet. I have seen pics on here, and it made me jealous with a hint of seller's remorse!

I won a bad beat jackpot at The Grove about 15 years ago. But it was the 3rd time in a month it got hit, so I win the backup to the backup jackpot and only got 7k lol. I'd welcome that "bad beat" again any time though
I had Th Td in a capped out family pot from the big blind in a 4-8 limit Holdem game. Flop was Ts Tc 4d. I checked, it gets capped behind me lol. I flat called. Turn Ad, I check, it gets capped again. River 3d, and seat 9 starts jumping up and down yelling "high hand, high hand". He shows down 2d5d for a steel wheel, and I rolled over my quad Tens. Crazy hand.

They're extremely, extremely rare, but they happen. 5 bad beat jackpot hands in a row do not happen. It will almost certainly never happen in the entire history of mankind either. We would probably have to live trillions upon trillions of years, playing billions of hands per day across the planet for the expectation of that to occur even once in mankind's history.

Last week, I was in Vegas for work and played at the Bellagio. My first time ever at a poker table in a casino. I won both nights. Honestly, if I was one of the other players, I'd think the house was feeding me cards. Especially the second night.
I did lose to a couple bad beats. Both runner, runner. Once KK. other than that, I had total control of the table and ended up being the bank for the dealer. It was comical.
They change the dealer at the table frequently. So much so, it's actually annoying. After reading this, I can live with the annoyance. True or not, the possibility for shady dealings exists and with a new dealer every 15 minutes, it would be hard to execute.

I check. Villain raises, other villain calls, I shove. Call/Call
Both villains are chasing a spade flush (one drawing dead).
Since I have no spades, one of their outs gives me quads.
So each of their anticipated 9 outs when they called my shove are now reduced to six (one villain drawing dead).
We agree to run it twice.
Board #1: Two spades. I lose that one.
But now I’m only facing 4 outs on the second board for a chop.
Board #2: Turn is another spade.
AsTs scoops.
I flop a set. 8h on the board plus two spades.

Felt bad for a guy last night, who was heads up on KJsJ board. Board rolls out 7s, As. Hands roll up his KXs vs 77. The very next hand I called a raise from cutoff with 10s9s an he has As on this runout for the remainder of his stack.
Heads up to the river holding KK, river comes the third Q, I know my opponent didn't make quads, I lose only to AA. Of course he has AA. Estimated pot $600+.

In this hand a normally aggressive player limped. I have
on the button, which I raise 7x (necessary to thin the field in these limpy live cash games) and still get called by the BB and the limper.

. It checks to me and I cbet 1/3 pot with my nut flush draw and two overs. BB folds, limper flats.
Turn is the
, so I make my nut flush. Realistically the limper shouldn’t have much 2x except 72 specifically, though players like this do play K2s/Q2s and other garbage... So if I’m behind it should mainly be to a slowplayed 77 or TT. Really not many combos to be concerned about.
Limper leads out for 3/4 pot, and I jam, figuring he has a worse flush. He snaps with
, naturally. River is irrelevant.

I recall hearing on a podcast that there are more possible combos of hands and runouts in 9-handed NL than there are atoms in the universe. Not sure how that is possible, but someone claimed that.
Dealing with bad beats and variance is a critical part of the game. Financial concerns aside I would try to get back out ASAP, ideally rebuying right away and continuing to play with that player. Managing emotions is a skill that needs practice and repetitions just like anything.
Heard that before. Number of atoms in the world is estimated to be around 10^80 and the number of ways of arranging a deck of cards is 52! or 8x10^67. Runout involves way less cards than 52, 9X2+5 so 23 cards 52!/29!. Roughly 10^37?

9X2+5 plus burns, which obviously don't play in the hand, but still add to the variety of ways they can appear, no? So 52!/24! then?

You wouldn't count the burns. They are just as random and irrelevant as the stub.
The easiest way to calculate it, assuming order matters here (you could make an argument that order shouldn't matter for the 9 hands, which would change the calculation) is to just use the formula for permutations or "nPr". In this case n=52 cards and r=23. And the formula for that is n!/(n - r)!
So @ChaosRock is correct when he said 52!/29! Although my goofy little calculator on my phone says that equals 9x10^36
