Chip/Cash Security Drawer under Poker Table (4 Viewers)

Using a table saw, I cut the sides a little to make it fit. I also cut the entire top off to give me more room behind the tray. You can see the notch for the lock.

I bought the 10 row chip tray and was able to cut that to fit 16” perfectly in to the drawer. Thats 500 chips, that fit really nicely.

Beesknees rigged this up for me. Shoulda shared it. 12 row tray cut in half. Piece of wood elevating the back. Notch cut out for handle.

Love these ideas but until I get a better table I'll probably have to go with a side cart setup like the rolling/locking ikea Erik drawers

I went a different route with mine. Now with two tables that might see equal use, I wanted the be able to hot swap between the two. Riveted some z-clips to the top of the box:

With the orientation of the clips, I can sorta rotate it on and off which was not at all the intention but ended up being ideal. It’s perfectly solid when attached.

Smart idea, what I did was buy two and jus mount the main frame then u can take drawer out of one and slide into other frame
@davin's project inspired me to do something similar on my table. I wanted something that was going to have a bit smaller of a footprint, so I started researching and came across this laptop drawer. I thought that it would be unnoticeable under the table and have a lot of legroom clearance. I was pretty sure it was deep enough for barrels of chips, but not in standard racks, so I started looking for another solution as a tray inside the drawer.
I came across this chip holder, which looked like it might work. The dimensions weren't right but I thought I might be able to cut it to fit. There's another one for sale on Spinetti's for half the price as this one (it may even be the same one) but I couldn't tell from the pictures and wanted to be able to return easily if I wanted to.
Initially I was disappointed that it was the same height as normal racks and wasn't going to work, but then I realized that it was actually two pieces held together by some adhesive strips, which were pretty easy to separate by hand. The top piece alone was exactly the height I was hoping for! I sawed the sides about a half inch on each side and then cut off the back row (it actually was pretty easy to snap there along the seam).
Installing underneath the table was easy - just 4 3/4 inch screws which felt like plenty to hold the weight of the chips inside.
I'm really happy with the end result. It holds 800 chips in barrels of 20, with 600 easily accessible. I think if it was on the straight side of an oval table instead of a round, all 800 would be fully accessible. I also like that it locks so I can keep a little security on the bank, I'll probably keep buyins in an envelope on top of the chips.

A little update on my drawer project. Though I was happy with the end result, the plastic tray was a little flimsy and left some unused space in the back. I contacted @T_Chan about building a custom wood tray that would exactly fit the interior specs of the drawer with continuous long columns similar to a dealer tray. Of course, Tony's work was perfect and beautiful.
It fits EXACTLY in the drawer, which now fits up to 1000 chips. I can basically keep my entire cash set accessible during my games now so this is a great and very convenient storage solution for me. I was pleasantly surprised that this accommodates 43mm chips perfectly! Here's the end result:

I got it on Amazon for $55 but it is currently out of stock. There are several different sizes - 14", 17", and 21" - in 1.8" depth and 3" depth. I ordered the 17" x 1.8" size:

That doesnt leave much clearance between the top of the chips and the bottom of the table so I added a few washers to allow a litle more clearance.

Dumb question - the amount you guys are spending on these so called specialized locking security drawers, why not just buy a cash drawer with removable trays? There are tons of these on Amazon that all have under counter mounts available and they are built a whole lot more solid than these security drawers.

The drawer is $38 how is that spending a lot ? Plus you can put chip racks in it with ease

for drawers any of these will work - then just search for the under counter mount from the drawer manufacturer - hell a bunch of the cash drawers can be bought as a kit with the correct under mount kit
For me it wasn't so much about the security as much as having a low profile that wouldn't impact my legroom. For a home game any lock no matter how flimsy is enough security from my perspective. I'm just looking to stop someone from making change themselves and potentially screwing up the bank.
Those are to bulky and double the price, also I wanted to be able to pull the drawer out and fold my table , the legs slip into the slot perfectly without having to remove the tray holder.

I agree with this, I currently use a magnet child door lock right now on a cabinet drawer, it works great for a home game - but I'm tired of getting up from the table to re-buy someone, same for cash games - tired of getting up all the time. Recently, in our first game back from covid break I messed up & I was $100 short on my cash game payout. My thinking is if I can reduce the amount of energy/time reloading someone, this would help reduce any potential errors I might have.
I run a 3 table $80 tourney, with rebuys & add-on before the first break - so as a tournament director, it can be a lot of work. Then we play a $1/$2 cash game after the tourney. I enjoy hosting, but If there is a way to make it more efficient for me - I'm in!
I'm going with the network rack unit, lighter then the cash drawer & i plan on using metal threaded inserts so it will be removable so I can fold up my table legs for storage. Since I have to take apart the table - I'll be getting a new custom cloth made, why not! It's an excuse to get one made from @T_Chan - I made the mistake to get my custom cloth from a local casino print shop & the cards don't slide worth a crap.
If you see in my photos I’m still able to fold my table closed for storage, all i do is remove the drawer and the legs fold right into it

I did see that - I've got the Gorilla legs, so I won't be able to do this & I hang my table on the wall - so that wouldn't work either.
