Is there an interesting story about the death of Jack Todd?
At two o’clock in the morning on May 25th 1952 Jeptha Harvey “Jack” Todd, owner of the Jack Todd Company ( Diamond mold), lost control of his car on a Kansas City street and crashed into a tree. Todd died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, age 58.
Bill Christy and Bud Jones bought out the Jack Todd business after his death. Four months later Bill Christy and Bud Jones register their business with the State of Missouri.
Diamond mold:
- Jack Todd, Kansas City: Feb 9, 1933 - May 25th 1952
- Christy Jones: 1952-1965
The records went to Paulson in 1965, and were destroyed when purchased by GPI in 2001.
Sorry, @gmunny - I didn't see those records (clicking the link just sent me to a yahoo sign-in page).I posted the USPC manufacturing records from 1933 a few posts up.
USPC also made Large Crowns for TR King, befor they starting making their own chips.
It's my understanding that all the Christie & Jones Chips, including the TH&C, were made by the Burt Co for them, & Burt also made the Paulson TH&C's as well, until approx the early-mid 1970's, when Paulson created their own manufacturing system .. & that from ' at least ' the 1950's onward to the 1970's, , essentially all clay chips ( that weren't TRK ) were made by Burt Co , regardless of what the box said ( "Mfgrd by Marion & Co, Mfgrd by Christie & Jones" ect ..)
Is this essentially correct, & were the Jack Todd chips also Burt produced?
Thanks for this! Dunno how I've never ran across it before; I've always wondered exactly what molds were produced by USPC but never really researched it. Good stuff. Here is the link to all the USPC records. it is on the MOGH site:

It looks like they made the small key, plain mold, crest and seals, and many others.

Do you happen to know the dates that Hispania was making chips on the scroll mold? I'm pretty sure it doesn't go back prior to the 1980s, but have no proof.....
