Clay Poker Chips vs Ceramic Poker Chips (5 Viewers)

.... Ceramics only advantage is in the almost limitless customization that is possible for fairly little added expense.

"Only"? Sigh. Absolute statements are often risky. You might try thinking about this a bit more.

Ceramics definitely have other advantages.

Leaded Clay Paulsons>Paulsons>CPC/ASM>Ceramics>China Clays
Generally agree with this although for me the first three are a tie. Love playing with asm/CPC chips since they are normally someone's beloved customs. Leaded thc Paulsons have an awesome feel.

Ironically some of my players like my Yak set best which is the least expensive of my large playable sets. Local casino has Chipcos for the cash game so that's what they're used to.

Actually used my ceramics last Friday fro our standard micro stakes game. I did not like the feel/sound of the chips when compared to my China Clay Pharoah's. I am certain no one else at the table gave a damn, but I noticed the difference.

Once I get my new purchase in hand, I may even sell the Pharoah's to fund an upgrade to the casino cash set I have been building. If I do that then the only China Clays I will have left are the Private Cardroom solids, and getting those off of me would take some doing.

I am CLAY all the WAY..... Ceramics are nice for the customizing but for feel I gotta go with Clay.......

Nothing wrong with ceramics and some of them are gorgeous. The tactile side of them is far below clays though IMO. Still a vastly superior product than smuggled plastic mold injection dice chips.

What's the standard price nowadays of new ceramics? (Not custom) less than .40 each?
No. I think the Yaks are still around 0.39, but Joe would have to confirm as it may depend on the denom.

For stock designs, GOCC are around 0.60, Sunfly are in the 0.60 - 0.70 range, and I think ABC is a bit higher (will check...).

Based on my samples, my preferences are GOCC / PGI (tie), ABC, then Sunfly.

I like ceramics for tourneys and Paulson's for cash games. I'm a fan of both and this way, get to use them both.

This is a good idea, I already have the Ceramics (Hard Rocks from TCR) and will be getting the China Clay CPS chips soon (hopefully!), but that's ~4100 chipes, so I should be good no matter what. :)

^^^^^this x1000. When I finally decided to pull the trigger on customs I always said to myself that I wanted ceramics for my tournament set and clay(CPC) for my cash set. Best of both worlds.

I was thinking of making a Ceramic tournament set one day actually. Does anyone make them with a stamped linen finish? Like the Venerati or Archetype over at http://www.buypokerchips.com/? I got a sample set of both of those and really liked the Archetype chips but wound up wanting clay customs instead for my cash games. It would still be fun to do something for a large tournament set though.
