CPC Carmel Casino adding a $1k (2 Viewers)

@Eriks how did you come up with the idea of carmel ?
In 2005 my then future wife and I went on a US trip. Started with 5 days in SF before driving down the coast to L.A. making some stops in between: Santa cruz, Monterey, Carmel and Santa Barbera. We particularily fell in love with Carmel and all of the Highway 1 spots so when I wanted to do a cali set (well, my take on a cali set anyway), inventing a Carmel Casino was the obvious choice.

We stayed 4-5 nights in L.A I think before driving to Grand Canyon for a couple of days and then on to Vegas where I played at a casino for the very first time: $1/2 at MGM Grand. Was ridiculously high stakes for me at the time, but I managed to book a $100 win and harvested a large inlay $5 :).

We then drove back to SF over the course of a few days making some stops here and there, where ever we felt like and spent the last week on Hawaii right by Waikiki Beach. Helluva trip!

Erik, I 'd still vote for version 7 or version 3 of post #98 - or the last version of post #118.
Greetings from Berlin:)

I like all of those as well, with the maroon/light blue spots right now in the lead. Gonna step away from it for a little while now and see if I still like the new versions when coming back.

Berlin huh? One of my favorite cities! Business or pleasure?

I agree I generally liked those versions better.
The colors/edgespots on the new version just don't seem like a natural progression from freaking dg tiger base on the $500...
Also: really? Still no arc yellow chip in the lineup? ;)

It's your set though and you should get whatever feels best to you.
Just think of me as the deaf guy in four weddings and a funeral talking to Hugh grant right before he's supposed to get married. Just making sure this is what you really want. ;)

I know, I do want to get the arc yellow in there, just don’t know how. I am torn and will give this a rest for a while. This is all @chipinla ’s fault with that damn chocolate chip he posted :)

What would an arc yellow fan have to say about these?

I think it's way more fitting to your highest denom!
I do like the light chocolate base color but not as much here on the $1k.
Good thing I have a couple of months to mull this over, but it does look good with the maroon spots and probably the white one to go with it. Any issues with it being too close to dg yellow, you think?

You all know how much I love the 3TA316, but when you have exhausted the edge spot hierarchy, you need a shift to something different;
that's why my top preference is the quarter pie, with DG Arc Yellow and Lavender.

I do like the 1/4 pie but the 3TA316 is in the lead for kow
It doesn't fit the spot progression by any means.
If not something totally different (quarter pie) it should be at least an even number of spots, coming from the 8D18 $500, so 4TA181418:cool

I suppose, but I’m just not a big fan of that spot. I’ll mock it up to see if it grows on me

I was in the US in 2001 March to June, sorta working like an au pair but it was with a Swedish family that I knew from before. The father worked at Ericsson and got a 2-year contract to work in states. They had an 11-year old boy for whom they wanted someone to take to practise and do some fun stuff with. Kind of like a big brother. I was suppose to be there at least a year but there was trouble getting a Visa when not going through a regular au pair agency. I ended up just staying on the 3 months tourist visa.

Anyway, we lived in Cupertino and I was in Santa Cruz at the beach many times. Great place! Had an amazing three months with lots of free time to explore SF and the bay area. Love that city! Actually I was in Carmel back then as well on a small car trip I took with some actual au pair people I met.

Only thing that wasn’t super great was that I’m born in December 1980, and thus not 21 at the time. A few times it worked to confidently show my Swedish driver’s licence. I guess the bouncers didn’t bother to try to make sense of numbers. We write the dates differently than you guys and also have a personal 4-digit code at the end to further confuse.

We did a very similar section of your trip on honeymoon in 2018. Some very nice stops along the west coast.
We flew into SF, picked up the Camero, then drove to Miami Beach :cool
Driving SF, Monterey and Santa Barbara along PCH1 before heading inland to Route 66. What a trip!

Sounds awesome! We were supposed to do another US roadtrip with the kids this time in 2020 or 2021, but obviously that didn’t happen :(

Thanks a lot guys! Gonna put this off to the next run. Been buying too much BCCs lately, so it’s not really within budget this spring, plus I don’t want to rush it now that I have just rethought the colors. Need to let it absorb over some time.
