Thanks everyone! I am stoked they turned out the way they did and that they are being so well received by you all.
Some have hinted at the background of some of the chips so I thought I would explain for anyone that would like to know more about how I came up with the different aspects of the set. First of all, the name Varsity Poker comes from the group of guys that started playing Wednesday nights my Soph. year in college. The game got so popular that we had a list of people and if anyone from the core group couldn't make it, someone from the list would get "called up to the Varsity table", and the name stuck.
I went to Washington State University and still reside in the greater Seattle area, so instead of putting the city and state as seen on most casino chips, I decided to go with "Wash. State" as a tribute to the university where the game originated while at the same time sticking with the more traditional geographical area of the game.
I love fly fishing and really like how the fish theme ties in with Poker so the Fish logo, the scales and "Where the fish bite back" all seemed very appropriate, especially with my poker buddies. (y) :thumbsup:
Getting back to WSU
@rowlin nailed it, nice catch.
I like how you used the colors from some of your favorite teams without it being obvious or taking away from the overall design.
Crimson and Gray along with the heart pip.
While we are speaking of team colors and
@rowlin being a wizard...
... and am a little suspicious of the twenty as maybe being Seahawks-themed.
Bingo. The $20 originally had Dayglo green instead of Peacock in it, but I thought it detracted from the chip overall. I loved the blue and grey and wanted to work the Peacock color in my set somewhere so with a hint of white, we called the chip good to go. So to make up for it, the spots on the $100 are very much Seahawk inspired.
Also
@bergs pegged the $1. The Bellagio and Aria $5K chips have always been among my all time favorites. That coupled with the fact that I will never actually get to play with any those chips, led me to the idea of a flag $1. It seemed natural to make my workhorse chip a flag (I'm already thinking about a 600 chip add on of these... It's a sickness).
Thanks again everyone! I'll work on getting some more pics especially of the $20 up soon.
