Welp, 'twas a good run boys. Got in a car accident this morning, towed to dealership, frame is bent and the shop is giving a large initial estimate. Even if the real number comes in at 1/2 the initial estimate, I'm still in a bind.

Completely unrelated but sorta-semi related, wife has been trying to get pregnant lately, and last night we had "the talk". Time to give up a large portion of my basement. Happy wife, happy life as they say.

I also had to cancel my TChan table, double whammy :(

I may need to take an extended break from PCF for a few months as to process all of this. I am taking a small piece of the money from this sale and put that into a PCF meet-up fund.

1200 Donkwoods CPC Chips + extras/spares + buttons
200 x 25c
400 x $1
500 x $5
100 x $20

I will also be putting a bunch of card setups for sale as well. If you purchase the Donkwoods set, you will have first dibs on whatever card setups you would like.

For any New Englanders, my table and chairs will also be going up for sale as well. :(

I guess this was a reality check for myself, had basically been spending frivolously since I graduated college and got my first job, time to settle down a bit. (my insides weep as I write this)

Asking Price $2500 to be paid via F/F on Paypal. Will ship to US for free. International responsible for any shipping costs
Will keep this open for a few days and will accept offers via PM or in the thread. Im going to be very open about the final selling price, this isn't an attempt to drive up the price, but I want to give a chance to all forum members to see this, maybe someone will knock my socks off with a price (never know) Buyer to remain anonymous unless they want to be named.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

You are aware that today is the Eleventh, and not the First, of April, and that you are a bit late for such shenanigans, no?

Whoa...my first reaction is that you are very emotional right now, and should take a breathe before making any irrational decisions.

There may be other ways to come up with some cash to pay for your car.

I think its awesome that you had the "talk" and kids will certainly bring life changes, but I also believe that a happy marriage hinges upon both people being happy and continuing to do the things that they enjoy. I have enjoyed countless hours with my kids playing with poker chips...building towers, learning math, learning poker....hell they even enjoy cleaning chips. I look forward to passing on my sets to my children and grandchildren at some point in time. The hobby does not need to have a negative connotation of irresponsibility.

If you really feel that selling everything is the right choice, then good luck, and maybe Ill even buy some of it to keep it local. It just seemed like you may have been swept up in a whirlwind of emotions, and knee jerking a bit. I hope you will reconsider, as you seemed to get great enjoyment out of these chips.

Wow. I skimmed over the ad first trying to find the punchline, but nope nothing. Sorry to hear about the accident and the loss of all things poker but good luck with building the family.

thanks for the kind words, Scott. Unfortunately the sad reality is 3 pronged. 1. Car accident 2. Wifey/baby stuff 3. Its next to impossible to get a game going with my locals, I have these beauties sitting here collecting dust.

I'm turning 30 this September, time to let go a little bit :(

I'm really sorry to hear this but also would take a bit of time to process this. Sell everything else poker related except 2 set ups and keep your chips. Then see where you are at.

I get where your head is, but FWIW, when I was 30 I could not get a game together with any of my friends either. After having kids, you will end up with a new group of friends, from wherever your kids go to school. Our neighborhood group is now 30 strong for a monthly game, so if anything you may want to consider another add on now, before CPC prices go up again...;)

You may want to to post pictures for people who aren't as familiar with the set.

EDIT: Those are awesome.

Maybe then my set will be named "Snipwoods" when I get a vasectomy :)

Sad day indeed when someone has to let go of a set like this. Think long and hard because you can't get them back....

Good Luck - think about it - keeping that one set which is already paid for costs you nothing. Just quit the acquiring of new things.

Just a bit of advice - if the girl is making you sell the chips - and you sell - you will basically have had a logical vasectomy......

If you are selling on your own volition, your own free will - and only then - will this never cause a problem between you and her. Any feeling of remiss now will only come up in an argument later during a heated moment.

Sorry to read this. Good news is you're okay physically after the accident.

I fully agree with Scott though. He put it much better than I will, but this is a large decision to be making - especially when you're most likely still in shock after this morning's events (as well as whenever you recently had that major talk with your wife). I would agree to keeping 2 set ups, one table and your Donkwoods chips for now, and reconsider in a week or two after things settle down. Insurance claims will take a while to get sorted out anyways. Maybe sell the rest, but seriously consider keeping the main "brand" stuff for now.

Change is hard for most people. But you can certainly have space for one table as well as have plenty of room for kids. Like Scott, I 100% believe that having a happy marriage means both people are happy and able to have time to pursue the hobbies and activities that make them happy individually, as well as together. My 3 year old really enjoys playing with, stacking and sorting my chips, and is really excited when I host poker games. I look forward to teaching both my kids poker and passing on my sets to them eventually.
So while giving up most of the basement space, along with not hosting many games at the moment may make your idea to sell everything okay at the moment, this does seem a bit abrupt and reactionary. Things may be tough today, but a bit of time and space may open up other possibilities. You seem to (rightly) have pride in your chips and enjoy the hobby and were just trying to reach out more to get more games going.

I took a break from these boards and this hobby for 5 years. I never even thought of selling my customs at the time and am so glad I never did now that I'm back. Without getting too deep in comparisons with my own situation, taking that 5 year break is not something I would ever do again if I could go back in time (for many reasons).

Great chips! Sucks to hear about your car. Did you not have insurance?

On the bright side, it's not like these are a rare set of TRKs or BCCs that can never be had again. If things turn around for you in the future at some point, you can always get them remade as long as CPC is still around :)

Not the case, fortunately. She is not making me sell whatsoever. I just think its in our best interest with how the big picture is looking in the near future

Was in an accident last year where I was "at fault" and my insurance is through the roof from it. Have to pay this one out of pocket, will cost more up front, but I will save in the long run with insurance payments.

I'm so sorry to hear about this man. Speaking from past experience of having to sell chips to cover things I think its always best to let the dust settle before doing anything drastic.

As I'm sure others can testify to it's a good idea to have a big (or as much as you can possible save) emergency/accident savings fund before you do have your baby. I hear those things can be pretty expensive and you don't want to have to sell your chips to cover baby related expenses down the road (assuming you don't end up selling them now that is which I hope you don't).

Hope you can figure out a way to maybe slim the set down but still at least keep half of it if not all of it.

Man, I'm glad I have a dashcam. Less than $80 all-in for it and if my insurance takes a big hit, I'll actually be at fault. I know too many people who have gotten screwed in accidents lately.

Add another vote for taking some time before committing to sell.

I appreciate all the kind words, I truly do. The writing has been on the wall for a while now. I just kept refusing to allow myself to believe it. The accident this AM was the tiny nudge I needed to sell.

Unfortunately my decision is final. The good news is that CPC doesnt appear to be going anywhere, so maybe somewhere down the road I'll decide to put in a new order or design something completely new.

I can't imagine you selling these after everything you poured into them. I hope things look up for you soon.

Sorry to hear about everything. I currently have a deal with one PCF member, who will remain nameless, with a rent/own type of agreement for their set that could be useful in a situation like yours. Basically I "bought" the chips, with the rights to use them during the agreed upon time frame. During that time frame, the original owner has the right to repurchase them back at the sale price in which I paid for them. At the conclusion of the time frame, if they haven't exercised their option to buy them back they become mine.

You could do something like that with a buyer you trust, that wants the set, for an agreed upon time that gives you some time to repurchase if you really need the money right now, but think you might have more funds available down the road.

Hope that's not too confusing and makes sense.

Sad day, this is a beautiful set... I hope that things work out and if you absolutely have to sell the buyer would give you the chance to buy them back when ever you are able too.

If someone were interested in this, I wouldnt be opposed.

Let me know if that's the way you end up going and I will see if I can get permission from the other person, who drafted the contract, to send you the contract that we put together with the personal information removed.
