Same. Love to see those Vegas Poker Series samples. Didn't Tina say they were making samples several days ago?
It was at least a couple of days ago. I'm not sure how easy it is to change from one design to another. Could take a while, I would think, based on how many different designs are in this group buy.

Didn't know if they did samples for a few of the designs of sets first or not.

Upon information and belief, they're going through the designs to check for printability. I wouldn't be surprised if either they hold off on showing printed samples until they have it "right" by their eyes, or they hold off on even printing samples until they're sure they are actually printable

Pure speculation, but this is how I'd approach it. Perhaps they're waiting on printing samples of all the designs and then forwarding all of the pictures and videos. Get it done in one shot instead of piecemeal. Make sure they get it all in one step so no single design is missed.

Yeah what he said.

I hope they do it one/few at a time. If we wait 4-6 weeks for all to be done then we'd have to wait more time for corrections. If they do a few at a time they can make corrections as well as keep making new samples at the same time. It's a clusterF to say the least but we are at least keeping them busy and we have something to talk/wait about.

Would be nice but I have the utmost faith that Tina and her team know what they're doing. Tina tells me to take a crap on the deck of the Queen Mary, two hours later they're hosing it down with disinfectant.

Yeah, it's total guesswork on my part based on zero evidence.

Although I think it's pretty easy for them to crank these out. I mean, in principle, how much different is this from you and I printing something from a computer to a printer? Same basic principle I would think. You have a printer that accepts medium (in this case ceramic chips vs paper). You queue up the art and push a button to print and it prints it out.

I did find this on Alibaba. They claim they have the ability to do a million pieces per week. So once art is finalized it should be quick.

They can make anything happen in Shenzhen if they have the demand and your money.

Dear Everyone,

Now that the ordering window is closed, let’s get Mr. @SeanGecko back his chips that he sent out as samples. He was more than gracious and very patient as his chips traveled the world. I’m sure they are home sick.

Let’s send them home
Great post!

Done, for my part! Sean has the tracking, his babies are already en route!

Uh, no. Not anywhere near that simple....

Can't be too terribly complex if they can actually crank out 1,000,000 in a week. That is of course if that figure is actually accurate. Which I kind of doubt.

If they're going 24/7 that would be 1.65 chips per second.

EDIT: Here's a video of one company making some ceramics. Not sure if this is the standard process for all ceramics. Doesn't seem like it would work for a blank with a mold design.

EDIT 2: Now I'm imagining line ups of workers who are assembling all of these by hand in a hot and uncomfortable factory. Working 12-16 hour days slaving away. :(

Yes please!
Thanks. I lost track of like 6 or 7 barrels.

And that's just printing the faces, one side at a time. Then all of the rolling edges need to be printed..... which is even more time-consuming if they are aligned.

5,000 chips per day is what I've always been quoted..

That number seems way more realistic.

I'm a little depressed now about the reality of how these are produced. In my naivete, I had assumed it was automation that made these so damn cheap. But common sense and (reality) is that it's due to extremely cheap labor.

The shine of this buy has been dulled a bit for me now.

No worries -- I've seen pics of a few Chinese plastics factories (typically where poker chips are made), and they are surprisingly clean, spacious, and sparsely populated with workers who seem relatively happy. Definitely not the sweat-shop you have envisioned, although the 'extremely cheap labor' aspect probably still applies.
