Custom artwork group buy. US/CAN CARDS MOLD (9 Viewers)

@Kid_Eastwood Was this art finalized with these Pantone colors, were they available? I believe @SeanGecko is still looking for this art?

Thanks you two for everything !

Mark
@BEANO52

@AnteAndy told me that they don't have all the pantone colors and he was about to ask for the list of available ones.

Either you wait for the list or you send it as-is and you let them pick the closest ones to the ones I selected.

Let me know.

I've also added comparison pics between Alibaba chips and SunFly chips.

Chips look and feel the same. So I'm pretty sure they use the same blanks. Difference is SunFly has glossy edges where the ones from Alibaba are matte and edge alignement is far from perfect with the Alibaba seller (but hey remember the price tag).

From Tina regarding possibly receiving a Pantone list from the vendor:

The rolling edge treatment is a function of the mold that was used to create the blanks (it's not something added later). If the two chips have different rolling edges, then they are different blanks from different molds.

Does this edge alignment concern anyone else? There has been a lot of concern and discussion on colors. I wouldn't bother me at all if my colors were slightly off, but that lack of alignment would drive me nuts!

From what I can tell, it's only the 9:00 edgespots that aren't quite aligned. The other visible spots at 6:00 seem well aligned

Doesn't concern me. Even some my sunfly ones are misaligned. I don't think anyone's capable of getting them aligned 100% of the time. Out of 1760 chips I ordered I'm expecting about 5-7% to not be aligned

Edit: it's probably more like 2-3%

Ohhhh, I didn't realize that it was just a small percentage not aligned. Thanks very much for the info!

Interesting, thanks.

@ all, don't worry with alignement. I took a pic of the worst aligned chip. Overall it's very acceptable.

I've only had a few that were misaligned pretty significantly, but I have extras so I swapped them out. There is some misalignment, but minuscule and hardly noticeable when in play

I'm not concerned about colors or alignment. We're getting full customs for insane dirt cheap pricing. I think some level of imperfection comes with the territory.

While in the middle of a game I probably won't notice any misalignment.

With all of the variables (lighting used during photos, phone camera used, my phone screen), I'm going to have a hard time judging actual colors of my chip samples.

I'm actually more curious if some of the small text of my chips print clear enough to be legible.

Q: If I wanted to add on to one of my sets later on after this buy is completed, any risk the colors won’t match from one batch to the next?
I adding on to my Aces cash chips with this GB, so I can let you know when they come in. They are part of the first batch being made, with the my Vegas Poker order being produced later since I wanted to make a few changes, so it shouldn't be very long.

Any edge misalignment will bother me, but not at this price point.

I would think there would be some risk, especially if the manufacturer is cheaper because of lax quality control processes.

i don't think it is just this manufacturer

if you carpet it your house, then 1 year later want to carpet one more room with same carpet, even though it is same manufacturer and SCU number, they will tell you they can not match 100%

but in our case, as long as they use same printer and same inks on the printer, we should be OK with add on at a later date

Zero risk? No. Major risk? Probably not. But not zero.

Over time, things can change -- equipment changes/replacements/upgrades, ink source/batch changes, set-up/operating personnel changes, even equipment wear -- all can potentially affect output, and create color-matching issues with previous orders. Humidity and temperature (and thus order time-of-year) can even have effects.

Also true for many semi-custom manufactured items in life, not just dye-sub printed chips.

If we are to assume that the art assets are good - meaning face artwork measure the same as the edge art - then the only factor that causes misalignment is the manual application of the edge by the factory worker?

So it doesn't really matter the complexity of the 'edgespots' right? It's either spot on or it's not. I guess certain design elements may make the misalignment more pronounced than others. I think the art with the 'squished' edgespots may turn out better as they may hide the misalignment a bit better than those with straight edges.

I think certain design elements can help the factory worker with the application of the edge. One being the art starts and ends at a base color or edgespot - not splitting either one at the ends of the artwork. Think of trying to line up a sticker to an edge, it's much easier to line it up edge to edge vs trying to gauge the midpoint of an edgespot.

My prediction - the designs that didn't split the edgespots on their designs will have fewer misaligned chips.

Given how manual the process is, I'm surprised that they can align the front and back of each chip along with the edges as well as they have done.
